Hiya - recently spoke with St Barts arrhythmia nurse and she suggested changing the time I take my 5mg bisoprolol from morning to evening. Any suggestions on best way to make this change?? Many thanks. 👍

Hi Nick1957, I did this about six weeks ago and it's been much better for me, giving me back more energy in the mornings. I don't know what time you've been taking yours, but I used to take my 5mg dose at 10am with apixaban and a second dose of apixaban at 10pm. So I added the bisoprolol to that 10pm dose. On the interim day when changing, I waited until 2pm to take the bisoprolol and then on the following day switched to 10pm. It was fine with no unexpected effects! My GP had told me that the maximum dose of bisoprolol is generally 10mg so I knew there was no possibility of an overdose.

Thanks. I normally take my dose at 0700. Will try switch tomorrow. Will take tomorrow's dose at 2pm then following day take with evening meal around 18.30.

I have recently done exactly what you are planning, even to the same plan, all is well, although done for a different reason, combination of pills early morning was causing me to feel dizzy, but definately an improvement

Personally, I would take the dose an hour later every day until I reached a time which suited me best. Just check whether or not it needs to be taken with food……

I enjoy the odd glass of wine in the evenings so I may stay same and keep taking bisoprolol in the mornings. Don't want to upset the apple cart!!

To my knowledge, as with many drugs that have a long half-life, bisoprolol reaches a steady state in the bloodstream after just a few days treatment, so it shouldn't matter when it is taken.

I've been taking Bisoprolol 10mg for nearly 30 years and my cardio said to take it at night to mitigate the side effects of no mojo during the day. That has always worked for me

Hello mate.

I took bisop in the morning when first started. Decided to switch to night as read a couple posts on here with people suggesting it. Was much better for me when taken literally right before I go to sleep. As some have said it seems to mitigate the tiredness as effectively when bisop in bloodstream is at its peak your asleep. Was much better for me so must be some truth to it.

I did similar to what flapjack suggested but with roughly 2 hour gap between times progressively over roughly a week 👍

I've been prescribed Bisoprolol 2.5mg twice daily, so approximately 9am and 10pm. Only been on it since September, instead of Atenolol, think it is very good.
