I had to moderate exercise to avoid AF. I also found listening to a slow heart beat on YouTube helped bring my HR down during an episode.

Are you on any meds?

Apixaban and low dose beta blocker. I’m wondering could I take a beta blocker when in an episode

Hi Babs1234, you don't say how you are recording your HR, is it a device reading? I have used two smartwatchs and both have given inaccurate top end readings in energetic anaerobic exercise. So my current watch has occasionally while on a hard run reached 184. I have also had readings where it has jumped up early in warm up phase. Normally it will be 110 but occasionally goes to a consistent 134 ish and these are the occasions when I get the high peaks too.BUT, I also have a LINQ ECG implant which records 24/7/365 remotely monitored. Talking to the hospital recently I asked whether they had seen these peaks. Their response was my tachycardia peak rate for an alert to them was 158 and this has never been reached! I also did not have Afib when in exercise.

So my smartwatch is a good general indicator but not accurate. It is totally reliable in normal daily routine though ie average HR and resting HR are pretty accurate.

Smartwatch are improving though.

Thanks for your reply. It’s is a smart watch which gives me a warning when I’ve been in AFib. Though it doesn’t at the time it’s happens, I know I’m having an episode. Feeling light headed and jittery. Usually after over exertion
