When I just started this four days ago and have had once a day really dizzness and face gets hot! Is this a side effect of these drugs together? Is there another drug besides METROPOLO that might work better with Diltaszem?
Diltlaszem 120 mg and Metropolo 25mg ... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Diltlaszem 120 mg and Metropolo 25mg taken together!
You may need more time to adjust. But if not, you could ask to see if an increase in Diltiazem will accomplish the same thing. Some people react better to calcium channel blockers like Diltiazem, then beta blockers. This is of course assuming you really need this much rate control. Sometimes rate drugs are questionably given to those with normal heart rates.

Is your doctor aware you are taking both ? Contact him for advice or give a call to the pharmacist.
Your recent post indicates you were only recently prescribed diltiazem. I was told by my cardiologist not to take both at same time when I was considering diltiazem.
Yes my doctor prescribed it and the pharmacist said they both work together! I feel like crap and I call my doctor , cardiologist and I am getting off Diltiazem and just take one 25mg of Metropolo in the morning and 25mg at night! Hope I HAVE not side effects with Metropolo twice a day!
I take 240mg of diltiazem 2x daily and 50mg metoprolol 2x daily, for going on a year and no side effects, but of course it just may not work for you. Mav7 I'm curious why you were told not to take both?
Yes, the heat in the face and the dizzy slightly woozy feeling is likely to be the Diltiazem. I had the same. It should settle down. If it doesn't you may need a lower dose. It can take a few weeks. If it doesn't suit you there are other partner drugs for what I assume is your rhythm control medication. Personally I'd prefer not to take Diltiazem again.
The face getting hot was not the problem, it was getting so dizzy the other day without warning and I was near my dryer and I hung on the dryer for dear life! I cannot afford to fall , so I got off from Diltiazem! My doctor okay for me to get off because I was on it for only a few days and most all those days I had the dizzy spill!
Did you feel clammy as well? It sounds like it might have been a BP hypo. Diltiazem is a vasodilator and if the dilation is too extreme for your system then a hypo can happen. I didn't want to say before but I've had a few of these on Diltiazem and it's not nice. One time when I ended up in A and E (ER), the cardiologist explained that the prolonged release form.on Diltiazem has a rise time and peaks around 1.5-2 hours after you've taken it. That's when you can end up with this effect. And it's why I would want to go back on it.
When first diagnosed, I was put on the same combo. Metropol sent my liver values all out of whack. My cardiologist took me off Metropol & increased Dilatiazem to 180. Worked pretty well for rate control & no bad side effects once I adjusted to it.
Others have advised you should seek medical advice. However, in the meantime, drugs.com returned this interactions page ...

Hope it helps.
I have "off" days like today when I feel dizzy, but not more than once a week since I first began the 2 meds last Sept. I take Metoprolol twice a day & Perindopril once a day. I may ask for an adjustment to my meds if I get too many days when I feel a little nauseous. Apparently everyone reacts in different ways but it's good to give it a few months if the side effects aren't too serious. Good luck!
hi
Taking a BB and CCB at the same time is a no no.
I take DILTIAZEN 120mg. AM for h/rate control.
I take BISOPROLOL 2,5mg. PM for hypertension BP.
METOPOLOL is banned for me as it made me breathless, fatigue - no energy and the monitor showed pauses during the night.
AFers are pointed to take Bisoprolol rather than Metoprolol which has a side effect on your breathing. Asthmatics should not take it.
We don't know your profile. BP before and H/R before the meds and now.
I could not take the ACE blockers also.
I hope this helps, cheers JOY. 74. (NZ)
