Halloween greetings

Wishing everyone a fine day, locked out of our favourite forum this Halloween for site maintenance. A rare sunny day here so we’re off to a local arboretum to enjoy the autumn colours and a picnic. Anyone else doing something special or seasonal today?

Stay well, keep garlic to hand (unless it’s a trigger) and enjoy treats without the tricks

Yes, I'm going with a friend to a nearby town which we call 'the resting place of the hippies'.

We'll have lunch out at our favourite vegetarian cafe. There's lots of salads, sometimes you're not too sure what you're eating, all with different flavours, alongside the tastiest macaroni cheese ever. It's a place where you can eat as much as you like, but are asked not to leave any food on your plate.

Also loads of interesting little shops, including one that will make you a pair of hand made leather shoes. I like to go as it has a really huge health store and I stock up with all I need from there.

Looks like it's going to be a nice day here in Devon, but I think rain is forecast some time late afternoon.

Ah! This does sound like a lovely town, not far from the one I know - a good book shop and panier market too, and a good artsy hall and garden not far away! Have a lovely day Jean

Hi Jean

I guess you will limit your Vitamin K with lettuce, cabbage, etc.

I took out the minquet beef out of bun when my order was no mayonnaise. Didnt eat bread or cabbage. I had pesto jug last night dinner in the hospital.

cheers JOy. 74. (NZ)

I actually supplement with a vitamin K (Natto extract) capsule 100mg. Eat what I want and my INR is always perfect. Have my own testing machine. I'm not a big eater anyway. I must admit I don't eat cabbage but do have a small amount of brussel sprouts. I take 4mg of Warfarin for 5 days and 3.5 the other 2 days.

Hi Jeannie

So you do not take an anti-co.agulant?

My friend with MS went without her PRADAXA 110mg x twice day for four days. She was away from her Village home. She had a stroke.

I'm back on mine after my stroke.

GOOD Jeannie

Tell me is Warfarin is given on your older age like PRADAXA?

From what I can remember I was put on Warfarin in my late 50's/early 60's Nothing to do with age. Warfarin has been used for about 50 years, the newer anticoagulants not anywhere near as long. When I started on them they were the only anticoagulants in use, they suit me so I don't want to change.

Would that be out with the fishing fleet Ben that you’re seeing these giant mud slabs?

Rainfern ..... no not that far down ........... around near Truro where they are trying to rebuild the A30 and tryin' to make it a dual carriageway .......... never seen so much mud made by so few items of earthmoving equipment. And the real bad weather with winds and rain around 60 to 80 mph comes tonight and tomorrow. 😀😀

Hopefully they’ll let everyone go home before storm Ciaran hits. What a nightmare!

At least they put a message up to tell us. Halloween didn't exist here. We got one caller.

The storm has just hit us in South Devon. Really heavy showers flooding everywhere, then suddenly it's sunny again. It's windy but not as bad as we've been forecast for later. Glad I'm at home.

A few drops - sun is shining!

Suns out here now, but the rain was torrential. Wind has dropped too - it's weird.

Oh - it did pour briefly my husband (who got soaked) tells me. I was too engrossed in chopping onions to notice …!
