persistent afib for at least 7 years, tia 3 months ago, afterwards on xarelto, constant diarrhea, wondering if this is a result of xarelto, stopped flexinite, due to dizziness, very tired all the time, cardioversion was recommended, but was not done because I could not tolerate flexinite and had to agree to be on xarelto indefinitely , also be on moderone after cardioversion. Looking for suggestions, options. Not feeling well.

afib and medication
out of curiosity, may I ask why you were not offered Coumadin .... unless of course you can't tolerate it.
Sounds as if your medication is not suitable for you and giving you nasty side effects. There are many drugs and it can be trial and error in finding one that is tolerable. You need help on that to give you a better quality of life, so don’t suffer in silence. All the best.
I won't go into whether or not you should be on AC/ thinners . That's a decision between you and your doctor. That said, if you're only not taking them because of the constant constant diarrhea, why not try a different NOAC? I For example, I started with Xarelto but then switched to Eliquis which seemed to help with side effects. There's a handful of NOAC's to choose from and then there's always Coumadin if you can't tolerate the NOAC's.
Also seems strange they won't cardiovert you unless you commit to Xarelto for life. Seems like two different issues and I assume you're better off in normal rhythm -- thinners or no thinners -- than in persistent afib. Of course, thinners are required prior to and for a set period after cardioversion to help prevent a procedural and post procedural stroke.
If you're not getting the help and professional communication you think you need, a second opinion is always a good option.

My elderly father was on Xarelto for years for persistent Afib with no side effects. Then bled internally and the Xarelto was stopped. 4 months later he had a TIA. Then was put on a low dose of Eliquis without any issues subsequently.
I did not have diarrhea but had other issues and an ER doctor took me off xarelto. I only had one AF event that I think I know why...but doctors have been persistent in telling me I would have another event and put me on blood pressure meds, xarelto and something to keep hearth beat normal...so now, I don't know if that is why I have had no issues but I am SO glad to be off the xarelto as I had bleeding from "girly parts" and ended up in ER one day a few months back. That was the last day I took xarelto and absolutely NO issues since.
I’ve been on xarelto since 2020 but no adverse symptoms but I also don’t take the others meds you do. Only xarelto and a blood pressure pill…Good luck and speedy healing
