cardio appointment

Fight-the-good-fight profile image

I have my 1st appointment with a Cardiologist this afternoon (previous appointment cardio nurses).

I am currently having an AF episode which started at 1.am this morning.

Anyone else experienced an episode whilst on appointment, and what happened?

Thanks again folks.

Well I would say isn’t that fortunate if you are in AF when you have a cardiology appointment? Whenever that happened to me AF would stop the moment an ECG machine was produced or I walked into the clinic.

The answer would be that they will get a clearer idea of the nature of your particular brand of AF.

Good luck.

Thank you CDreamer. Should I happen to convert to NSR before appointment - I have my tachogram reports from my app which may go someway to help.

Yes, I've experienced that lots of times. Makes no difference and your cardiologist will be able to see on your ECG exactly what your heart is doing.

Thanks Jeanjeannie. It is very reassuring to find voices of reason, and life experiences on this forum.

What's the betting that your heart will go back into its normal rhythm before you get to see your cardiologist. Will be a shame if it does.

How are you feeling?

Probably, although if it resembles my last episode-which lasted 15 hrs this will take me through appointment time and beyond.

To be honest, although my HR was 125 then 80, then 105. The palpitations don’t appear to be as aggressive. That said, I have had no sleep. I have upped my BB meds…

Thank you BobD. To reiterate what I said to Jeanjeannie.

It is very comforting and reassuring to find people who have real life experience of living with AF.

I agree with what's been said. I went into a pretty fast AF on the morning of my ablation. Any doubts I was harbouring about the wisdom of having the procedure were soon wiped away !

Excellent! The cardiologist I saw swung into action when he saw my ECG. Appointment with AF nurse when ECG showed bigeminy then put forward for another cardiology appointment. Have to say the nurse was a lot more clued up than any cardiologist I’ve seen though so not an inferior option ❤️‍🩹

Thanks Buffafly. It’s looking very much like I will still be in AF when I attend.

2.5mg (doctor’s instructions) Nebivolol has only reduced heart rate to 97 from 125 after 10 hours.
