I have had extractions and other extensive dental work. No concerns over whether or not to take apixaban. The first extraction I had not long after starting apixaban and was told I wouldn't have to stop but I didn't take my morning tablet. Since then it has not been a concern having implants and other work. Ask your dentist what they advise and also if you can contact your cardiac nurse or doctor to confirm. Everyone is different.

I forgot to mention and have just been reminded by reading on another post - that the local anaesthesia can contain Adrenaline which can trigger out of the ordinary (is anything out of the ordinary for us with AF?) heart beats If my dentist uses these they don't affect me as i have never queried this but it is a good idea to ask for local anaesthetics without Adrenaline. Apparently these are not so good at blocking the pain

I've recently had an extraction of a wisdom tooth and was told to stop Edoxaban for 48 hours. No issues at all.

Hi

I take PRADAXA 110mg x twice.

Nothing to change but I did delay it AM until I had the extraction.

The Dr gave me antibiotics though. Last year I was diagnosed with a soft Systollic Heart Murmur.

I recently had a tooth out and was told by my EP to stop Apixaban 24 hours before. Dentist was surprised at this as he thought it wouldn't cause an issue to continue. I'm glad I listened to EP as it was still bleeding some hours later. As Desanthony said, ask about the local. I think the thread he is referring to is the one I commented on. Usually I've had adrenaline free for minor procedures but this tooth had nerve issues so I needed something stronger. He used one called Articaine which is low adrenaline. They have to work quickly as its effects don't last long. I ended up with 5 shots and still felt some of it.

I have had two teeth removed. Each time I asked for the earliest morning appointment and delayed taking my Apixaban until I got home afterwards. I also asked for Adrenalin free pain killer. All was fine. I didn’t notice it being any different to usual treatment. Certainly there was no more bleeding than usual,
