Yes - I have an RST - resynchronisation, bi-ventricular pacemaker and it I have had fantastic improvement in my QOL. I posted a link to the AA webinar about RST pacemakers a few days ago. I’ll repost on a new thread.
Have you been assessed for pacemaker and is it a possibility for you?
Yes pills not keeping afib at bay or even a low heart rate, cardiology Dr said its our last resort. Waiting for a scan and monitor fitted then back to specialist for discussion on pacemaker
Hope you get some relief soon Brill. I have a pacemaker, it solved my low heart rate and fainting but I have breathlessness when I try to do anything very physical, I put it down to my permanent AF and try to just manage to do physical work at a slow pace. It's so hard on QOL! Wish you the best, Tom
Same here! Very breathless on exertion. Permanent AF since 2016. Permanent twin lead Pacemaker. Did notice an improvement in breathlessness and less fatigue since halving beta-blocker dose ( to 5mgOD Nebivolol) and halving Amiodarone dose (down to 100 mg OD). Don't know if this might be relevant to your situation. I think the meds are working against the pacemaker.
Well Brill, that post from me was 11 months ago, at least I'm still here thankfully.I got off the amiodarone and beta blockers as soon as I could during those times.
A cardiac consultant who in answer to my plea to come off the beta blockers said if you can get out of your chair after an evening of sitting and manage the stairs to bed without losing your breath then you don't need them. I managed and stopped the drug!
For several months now my blood pressure monitor shows I am in sinus rhythm but after all these years of permanent AF and at 83years of age I keep expecting the AF to return but count every day as a blessing 🙏in the meantime. I still take my anticoagulant, I have a great fear of stroke.
I wish you every success in regaining your health Brill and all our fellow sufferers out there. My breathlessness is still around when I try to do too much but I live in hope.
My pacemaker set at 60bpm has cured my syncope so long as I don't do too much and listen to my body and rest often.
Find what works best for you Brill. I wish you well x Tom
