I know there has been lots of info on here re this in the past, but I’m just seeking advice about the best reasonably priced brand, dose and reassurance that it’s safe to take with Apixaban. Many thanks 😊

COQ10 advice please
I don’t think there is a ‘best’ - everyone will want slightly different things so you must do your homework. As with taking any supplements - look carefully at the label for the contents as many manufacturer’s tend to use fillers so check ‘active ingredient’. Ensure the manufacturer works to pharmaceutical standards - many don’t so there is contamination and tests by Which have shown that what is advertised on the label can vary from what is actually in the product from as little as 20% to the advertised number. For all those reasons do not base your decision on cost. I take 200g of active ingredient now, increased dose over the last 15 years from 50g as age advances. I try to have 1/7 of not taking it and always take with food.
I buy respected brands such as Cytoplan, Lamberts, Biocare and those stocked on Organic Well Being on line Supermarket. I have used Boots as they used to manufacture many of their own products but not sure they do now. Expect to pay in the region of £20-25 for 90 capsules - I stay well away from High Street brands.
I am on Apixaban and had no problem but you can never be 100% sure until you try it so I don’t think anyone would be able to reassure with any accuracy simply because few tests of interactions with supplements have ever been conducted but I think you can be reasonably sure by checking on Drugs.com. At best it will only ever say ‘no known interactions’ to cover themselves and caution on the common known ones.
Hope that helps
I buy supplements only from top brands as mentioned by CDreamer. With CoQ10 I would get your level tested with a simple blood test and aim to be in the top quartile. I was also advised by a Naturopath to take a magnesium compound with it.
When I looked a few months ago, Big Tescos and Asda had good prices.
