Why today of all days?

Today was meant to be the first day of my holiday. A much needed holiday after having had a cardioversion 2 weeks ago.

However yesterday I came down with a fever! Two negative covid test (yesterday and today) but heart rate has increased from a resting rate of around 65bpm to 99bpm and I’m getting loads of ectopic heartbeats that make me feel rubbish. Temperature of 38.5 and body aches but no other symptoms.

Don’t know at the moment if I feel well enough to travel but more concerned that this will send me back into AF. Absolutely gutted as it has been a horrendous year and desperately need this holiday.

Only you know how bad you feel and if you are up to travelling. Will you have to drive to Devon, or do you have a partner that would do that? I'm all for carrying on as usual if in low rate AF as you say you are, but you also have a fever which makes things a little different.

Could you perhaps postpone your holiday until tomorrow and see how you are then?

I caught covid back in May during a holiday in Spain. I felt unwell for about 9 days. I went into Afib for about 7 hours on day six. We are all different.Good luck

Well, a couple of hours after posting I started to feel better and so we risked the drive (my wife driving). Incredibly during the drive I felt almost normal. Heart rate had returned to normal, only a few ectopic beats. Then about 30mins before we arrived I went downhill. Fever, fast heart rate, loads of ectopics and body aches. Hoping it will only last a couple more days.

Sounds like stress ( 'a horrendous year') is a key factor to address either by planning to avoid more or adopt antidotes eg yoga, spiritual practices. I doubt your GP or other medic will have the knowledge to help, I would research some experienced Alternative Practitioners.

I had a cardio version in Feb 2023 and have been in NSR since - hallelujah- I also had Covid in July and I really felt like I had slipped back into Afib for a couple of days. I hadn’t, it just felt that way because my heart rate went up. Be sure to rest and do Your breathing exercises, don’t hyperventilate with the effort, slow and calm. Sending you positivity. 🙏

I got covid about 5 weeks after my CV got some ectopics and a mild fever, but I tried to convince myself it will be ok. Stayed well hydrated and practised slow deep breaths. The AF stayed away. Try not to get over stressed that feeds the ectopics. Maybe take some Magnesium to help relax as well

if you've got something why would you want to give it to other people, why not wait it out

What do you think I’ve been doing? Going around hugging everyone, leaning out of the car coughing at strangers as we pass?

So far we’ve driven in our own car to our own cottage and stayed there.

Looks like you’ve got a lot 2learn.

Holidays usually mean being around places where there are other people, eating out etc, so don't know what you get up to. Do as you wish.
