Afib episode 48hrs post ablation

Hi all, As you know I had flutter line ablation last Wednesday. Diagnosed with afib. Went back on my meds on Thurs( Flec and bisoprolol). Yesterday evening flipped into Afib 70-115 every minute. It’s coming down with flecanide PIP. Slowly. I know this can happen. Do I need to let Dr know?

To answer your question, "yes", let your doctor know exactly what is going on.

As to the rest, I'm a bit confused. In your previous post, you mention you have afib and possibly SVT, however here you only mention that your "flutter line" was ablated. That is for aflutter, not SVT or Afib. Are you saying they didn't treat the afib at the same time and if so, why didn't they?

In any event, given that it sounds like you may have multiple arrythmia's, which is not uncommon, it's very important to know exactly what arrythmia you are having now (or at any time for that matter) for treatment purposes. For example, I was told to take Flecianide PIP for afib, but I was told not to take it during a flutter episode because it could make it worse.

The only way to be sure that your 70-115 bph episode is afib is by ekg. Either at your doctors or by using a home device like Kardia 6L or Apple Watch. Otherwise, you're guessing and may be treating it incorrectly.

Hi Jim, When they did the EP study they said they discovered I only have Afib. They didn’t ablate that because of my weight but will do in 4 months time when I’ve lost some. I’m confused too about the flutter line as they never mentioned that previously. Just wondered if it was Routine preventative thing but obviously not! Thanks for responding.

The doctor likely won't be surprised, but, yes, I would, definitely. The inflammation in the atria and elsewhere caused by the catheter's work takes about 3 weeks minimum to subside, I have read, and a period of 3 months is often claimed as needed. AF after the first month is a sign that it might return later, too, trials seem to show.
