Can long term reliance on Digoxin ( AF and mitral valve repsir) cause uric acid levels to rise .
And, can this cause rheumatoid arthritis flare up ?
I made mistake of trying to understand my latest blood test results . L

I was on digoxin for a short period and found it very helpful indeed. I haven't read about the effected on uric acid levels. I guess you are having gout like issues. I would ask the pharmacist or have a look on the relevant NHS pages. I have read that digoxin interacts with one of the gout treatments called colchicine.

I have rheumatoid arthritis , ankylosing spondilitis , psoriatic arthritis . Supposedly,!! consultant vague and non sympathetic . I have asked to change , to no avail. L
My late mother found a similar lack of sympathy but in the end decided it was because the doctors weren't themselves unfeeling but that they were frustrated by not being able to offer anything much that would help. When an anticoagulant is needed for stroke prophylaxis in AF, then the options diminish dramatically, I gather.
It must be awful for you to put up with such pain. Bad luck and I do hope something turns up that will help. I have read that counter-intuitively, exercise is the best long term help.

Thank you Steve. There are many many people who have heart problems and arthritis . I am not sedentary , I am not overweight. I have good if , infrequent rapport with cardiology . Rheumatology is different, one of the consultants there , few years ago, examined me and in his report wrote that I was in perfect sinus rhythm and had a healthy heart. He failed to notice I’d had open heart surgery.
When challenged , he blamed his insane report on his computor, dsying it was on predictive text. I still have the letter. L
