I had my AV Node Ablation 2 months ago with my PM set at 80 on the bottom and 100 at the top. I walk daily approximately one mile and find I need multiple stops to catch my breath. My HR goes into low 90's and I wait about 2 minutes until it goes back into the mid 80's.
I had my first adjustment 1 week ago and they moved the bottom rate to 70. I was hoping the with a bigger range my breathing would be better but as of today it has not improved. I am do for another adjustment down to 60 in another week and hope that will help.
My question is has anyone else experienced the same? Will the bigger range in HR improve my breathing and energy?

Are you sure it is your setting? I have the same with little problems, I'm at 80 BPM but I had breathing problems, but it turned out to be unrelated to the pacemaker setting, it was th BP medication and the doctor told me to stop and suddenly my dosage, my breath came back and my fatigue went away. It was the Mertroprolo that was the problem, not the pacemaker. Ask your doctor to query tour pacemaker, to see if all is okay, then ask about the medication. You may be suprised.
Thank you! I have cut my Metropolol in half and my blood pressure is improving. Now about 105 over 75. Doctor was worried about coming off of it too quickly and causing high blood pressure. I will check to see if I can come off of it completely and remain on my blood thinner.
I have the lower number at 60 and it can go up to 130. Hills are always a bit of a challenge but that is partly because I have angina. On the whole it works very well
My next adjustment should move me down to 60. I will need to ask when I can go up. Perhaps my current limit of 100 is just not enough room for my heart to work hard enough to help my oxygen level.
I also have had a pacemaker/AV node ablation 8 weeks ago. That was two weeks after I had my sixth ablation for focal tachycardia.
After my EP follow up visit ten days ago, I will have an adjustment to 70 and sleep mode at night, appointment set for end of July. Original appointment date was end of August. I experience the breathlessness as well, I also had my pacemaker installed at the beginning of tree and hay fever allergies, so it was hard to determine what was the cause. I was hospitalized for almost five days trying different meds, before the AV node ablation. I was on Losartin, Amlodipine, 5mg Bisotoprolol, That put me flat! I said I can’t do that.
I now am on 2.5 mg Bisotoprolol, but I half them. Heart rate around 80, I still get headaches and pressure in head.
Breathing is easier but still not good. Dr wants me to go back to Diltiazam- been on that before I so hoped there would be no meds in my future
Hope your next adjustment will help with the breathing. I off all medications except 25 mg of Metoprolol and 5 mg of blood pressure, eliquis. I take both twice a day. With blood pressure still a bit low I am hopeful I can stop the Metoprolol.
