My stress levels went up when my phone specs were updated and my Kardia stopped working. My phone isn't in the AliveCor compatibility list. Has anyone else had these issues and how did they deal with it? Any phone recommendations for someone totally lost?? thanks

Call Kardia, they have excellent support, at least at the supervisor level. So if the person answering the phone can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. A workaround is to pick up a used iphone which can be found relatively cheap. Doesn't need much memory, doesn't need to be connected to cellular. You can then use it just for Kardia and if you connect it to your wifi, you should still be able to email your ekg's to your doctor if you want.
Thanks Jim. I can understand the cheap iphone with little memory but how do you download the app if you aren't connected and link it with wifi?? Sorry after the stroke my techs skills are very limited!
Even without s Simm card or cellular service, you should be able to connect your iphone to wifi. Now a good question is if you will be able to download the Kardia app from Apple's app store without first getting an Apple ID? Don't know. Maybe someone else does or you could call Apple's help line. I have used the Kardia on my old/spare iphone but I already had the app on the phone.
saw this for dowloading apps without apple account:
1) Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad. 2) Tap your name from the top. 3) Tap Media & Purchases > Password Settings. 4) Turn off the toggle for Require Password under Free Downloads and tap Done.
So the answer is you would need to set up an Apple ID. And it’s reall easy to set up an Apple ID with internet connection, you still wouldn’t need to have cell connection. I used my old iPhone in exactly that way.
Yes, advantage with android, easier to load apps without a gatekeeper, but I never could figure out how to use one Don't think you can be over 60 and figure it out
I think that perhaps I will need to update my android and get it back on my phone. Can be difficult to do a reading on my husbands phone when he is hill walking somewhere!
Have put the Kardia on my husbands phone for the moment whilst I figure out what phone to get. Problem is I like the big value bundle from Vodafone and don't want to get stuck with a monthly payment but think that is where I will end up.
So do you have the Kardia device yet, or did you just load the Kardia app on your husband's phone? To paraphrase an American TV commercial, I always say "Don't leave home without your Kardia". In your case, it might be, "Don't leave home without your husband"
As I write this my husband and his phone have gone off with the dog for a walk!! The device works fine on his phone even though it isn't on the compatible list but then mine worked fine for months till it decided not too.
It might have been a software upgrade on your phone? Sometimes apps stop working when that happens. But maybe it will work on the next software update. Don't let your husband stray too far
2nd hand android would be my advice. As Jim says you don't need a sim card just WiFi to download and upload. If your existing phone updated - wasn't sure if that's what you meant? Then surely Kardia helpline can assist. However, if you did buy a new device, try the workaround. Fingers crossed for you. I wouldn't be happy without my Kardiamobile!
My Kardia stopped working as well panic arrived what can I do without it i thought.Husband to the rescue he changed the battery and all was well it worked again panic over.
Stop useing kardia so much. You should know when your heart is running a tad faster. Stressing over a kardia just makes things worse. I got rid of all gadgets and felt better for it.
Thanks Avatel, I don't stress over the Kardia and only use it when I feel my heart racing. the stress was caused by my frustration at my limited IT skills after the stroke and of course the mobile suddenly not working.............
I understand, its tough. I don't like tech but realise its helpful.I had a CO2 pulse gadget, and it gave me wrong readings, said my heartbeat was 32 BPM, nearly went to A&E
But i know Kardia is great. I don't use any gadgets now. I have a blood pressure meter, but have not used that for a year, because i can't relax when useing it, but thats just me i guess. Anyhow I hope it you get it sorted, and best wished
My first Kardia stoped working after I’d been using it for a few years. I think as the records are stored, they just stop it working after they think you’ve had your money’s worth!! Fortunately, now that I rarely have episodes to check and track, I don’t use the replacement nearly as much so hopefully, it will last much longer! I have an iPhone which I only got to use the Kardia but it is also my second one and not sure what version it is.
Hi, I had a problem when my phone update reset my NFC settings. These need to be off. If you go to your setting icon and type in NFC it should take you to that option.
Thanks Vinny the NFC settings are off but it is Bluetooth. It is on but not connection and it won't connect. Staff at the local Vodafone shop couldn't help either.
You say a Bluetooth problem? Well I had problems turning Bluetooth on & off on my phone for use with my Kardia 6L, a phone which also is not supported by AliveCor (so asking AliveCor for help is not possible), and that was a well-known tech fault fixed by Restarting my phone. Might be worth a try if you have no other solutions.
Remember to transfer your Apps and data to any new phone properly, as if you sign out of your AliveCor account or reinstall the Kardia App you will lose all your History of past ECGs. Just saying, although you seem to be more than "up to speed" on such matters.
my Kardia stopped working, needed new battery, replaced it and working like new again. I use mine on my iPad, don’t have a phone but can email to my EP from iPad.
