I had an ablation this AM.

Everything went well. It's 3 AM-I am at home. I just woke out of sound sleep due to extreme back ache. Where do I put the pillows to subside the pain and get back to sleep?

If it feel like a stake through your chest and between your shoulder blades it is probably oesophageal inflamation amd position likely won't help much. Since you don't seem to have been told much I will edit to include our fact sheet on recovery. Paracetamol (or whatever you call it your side of the pond) should, take the edge off it.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now. As Bob says, could be oesophagal pain. I had chest pains, which is due to the pericardium feeling disturbed. But it didn't last. Hopefully yours will subside. Things are inflamed in there so take it easy.

Keep us all informed! I had no pain but many seem to have some discomfort, mostly at the catheter groin site.

I had bad back pain after my ablation, caused mainly by the posture during the ablation but particularly the very uncomfortable bed I was in for recovery. It does get better though I was still in some discomfort when I resumed work a week later and had a long car journey.

That's happened to me too after surgery. I already had back problems.

I recall having a very bad back ache too; just thought it was from lying flat for so long after the ablation. Lifting my torso up helped some, via wedge pillow.
