I was prescribed HRT for osteoporosis, not for classic menopause symptoms. My cardiologist knows I’m on HRT. I haven’t been advised to stop so far. I have paroxysmal AF and no other risk factors. You have to look at the individual and their relative risks and have regular reviews ie BP, blood tests etc.

I am on a low dose of premarin and have been for many years. Now I have AFib but no doctor has suggested that I come off it. I have stopped taking it a couple of times but I feel "rubbish" when I stop taking it.

I too am on Premarin and have been for years and years. I swear it is stopping me from getting osteoporosis because I am slight of build. My GP is happy for me to continue and I would fight him if he tried to take me off it.

I was, right up until the A/F caused a stroke then I was taken off plus my cardiologist did say that after 10 years they did not know the consequences of taking HRT as it was, at that stage anyway, untested.

I've had paroxysmal afib with eleven emergency cardioversions to date and my EP was fine for me to be on HRT.

Hi

Use the ovestin cream.

And a finger not applicator.

Twice a week.

Advised by my 80s Locum Doctor. Oestrogen can

interfere with the Thyroxin I take daily as Thyroidectory plus.

Cheers JOY. 74. (NZ)

I have been on HRT (oestrogen patches) for 30 ywars though now I take a very small dose. I saw a program not long ago about research done by 2 female American neuroscientists who said that it protected our brains from getting dementia. I intend to stay on it . Sometimes I forget to change the patch. Worsening backache reminds me!

hi trixie100-I have been on HRT since my late 40s and I’m 69 now . My mother was never on it and had heart issues, when her meno approached she ended up in hospital having electric shock treatment. My sister has heart problems -she never used HRT and my brother has AFib like me.

I’m convinced HRT helps my AFib, it seems to keep everything calm and I’ve never had the horrible symptoms some people seem to have. 🙏🤞- I hope it continues that way 😀. I started with paroxysmal and have been in permanent af for a couple of yrs now. Patxx

I was on HRT before, during and now after an ablation over 4 years ago. Both my EP and gyn both agree that being on it is better for my heart than not. I am 56.

I’m sure my AF started with peri menopause, it took years for anyone to listen to me. When I started on HRT my heart certainly settled, along with all the menopause symptoms, I’d not felt as well for years. Unfortunately my GP stops it at 60 due to increased risks of breast cancer. All my symptoms returned including permanent AF. Since having my hybrid mini maze no AF, but still etopics, hot flushes and other menopause symptoms. It’s hard to know what the drivers are. As an aside since having the mini maze I’m finding the hot weather much harder to deal with, I’ll ask at my 6 week check up.
