My latest Pacemaker check showed my battery level at 50% - so around 3 years before it needs replacing; as I put my new phone on its contact charger I was inspired to wonder whether anyone had thought of inductive charging to obviate replacement of my pacemaker every 7-10 years....
Of course I soon found out that the technology has been around and even patented for nearly 10 years .....so my question is - why not? what's the problem?.....

When you find out lt me know because mine is the same right now and has to be changed in 2 and a half years.......and, since having my pacing check on Tuesday I have had an episode so am wondering if my rate was adjusted in any way as not had A/F in 4 years grrrrr
I asked my pacemaker clinician that very same question. The answer, according to her, was replacement pacemakers are big bucks for the companies manufacturing them. It's not in their interest to have self-charging devices. Whether there's truth in that, who knows!
