cyroablation yesterday...

(79 year healthy male, no medications) a little history: discovered afib two weeks after Covid booster Nov2021, cardioversion Dec2021, all good and normal until a ski trip to Utah in March 2023, notice more shortness of breath than usual at altitude, skied for 5 days. When I got home grabbed my Kardia and sure enough "possible atrial fibrillation", scheduled a second cardioversion for April10, on table, hooked up, in and out of afib...of course doc says cardioversion won't do any good, went home with scheduled cryoablation May 03, 2023.

Hospital change, schedule change to May 18. As described from others the back ache for me was the worse part, plus long day, at hospital 7am, walked in home 5:30pm. Now the day after, sore groin, taking it easy around house, eating well, reading, thought I would write this while fresh.

Hope I don't have to repeat, can't wait to hear doctor's thoughts, info on follow up visit...soon...

Thanks for allowing me to vent to what I hope is a receptive audience...

Always good to hear about a successful ablation! Take it easy and all success for the future.

You say 'no medications'; may I ask if you are now on anti-coagulants?

I t oo started with a very erratic heart beat just over a week after my last booster. Holter monitor showed 5000 ectopics both atrial and ventricular in a few hours. GP was about to put me on tablets when after about 5 weeks it all just stopped. Never happened again ( so far touch wood). The only thing I Noticed at first was feeling tired and breathless so I took my BP which showed ectopics every time so I spoke to GP

All the best with your procedure. Take it easy and rest up. The first three months is considered the blanket period in which the heart needs time for the scarred tissue to heal and provide good insulation. It sounds like you had a catheter ablation so physical recovery is quick but you need to give your heart at least 3 months. So my humble suggestion is lots of rest and maintain a steady heart rate with minimal spiking above 120bpm.
