New Treatment For AF

I have not been on here for a while I just wanted to ask if there are any new treatments on the Horizon I have had AF for 15 years and apart from Ablation that doesn't always work and is definitely not a cure nothing much as changed It seems they can cure some of the other Arrhythmia but not AF Then again the pharmaceutical companies must be making Billions on anticoagulant and all the other medication connected to AF So maybe that's why there's no progress being made (Just a Thought)

Pulse Field Ablation (PFA) is new. Just starting in the UK and Europe. Quicker and safer than either RF or Cryo, but still an ablation. Other than that, work is being done with the vagal nerve, but I doubt if we will see anything actionable for quite a number of years. But don't knock ablation, if afib is affecting the quality of your life, give it a try, it has helped many, and do PFA, but you might have to wait a bit.

Cannot get it within 12 months where I live in Devon. So I’m being pressured to have a pacemaker fitted into an otherwise healthy 65-year-old heart - for “quality of life” apparently. However the AFib will continue to batter my heart with all the longterm risks that brings.

There's the mini maze procedure offered privately by Mr Hunter in London, a member of this forum had hers performed by him and is now feeling extremely well.

Or Dr Wolf in Houston, Texas (another member had this procedure and is now really well) who carries out the Wolf mini maze. A Dr in Japan Dr Ohtsuka who worked with Dr Wolf also carries out the same procedure and another member here is full of praise for him. Unfortunately these all cost around £20,000.

I'm not sure if anyone else in the U.K. offers this procedure. As Mjames has said there's also the Pulsed Field Ablation.

where in the UK are you Davy, there are some surgeons doing mini maze, incl Mr Hunter on the NHS. It is a postcode lottery though I am afraid. I had mini maze a year ago and have never looked back. I was persistent for 5 plus years

Cynical as ever DT. Not a lot new apart from pulse field ablation which is much vaunted but too new to say if it really is as big a deal as claimed.

No new anti-arrhythmic drugs I'm afraid.

Have you tried yournutritionshop.com/produ... & CoQ10. My Naturopath frowned at the Flecainide I had been prescribed by the cardiologist and mentioned his AF patients just get given those two supplements. Over 10 years I have adapted the dose but the aim is to have your Red Cell Magnesium (nb not the usual GP test) & Co Q10 levels at the top of the normal range.

I’m trying the Q10 and I already take a raft of magnesium. I definitely triggered a bad, 2.5 days episode of AF last weekend by bingeing on bread and cake. Silly me, shan’t do that again!! This isn’t the first time I’ve reacted to wheat. Beginning to wonder if I have some sort of wheat sensitivity. I’m not celiac, but wondering if I’m somewhere on the spectrum.

Just go 90% gluten free. One of the actions I had to take & I reduced sugar by 50%+.
