Hello James, click on the link below for a factsheets which was written by patients for patients. Obviously follow the instructions issued by the hospital but the important thing is to do as little as possible for as long as possible.....

FJ I gave RBH a load of fact sheets last time I was there so they may be giving them out. James did you get one?

Hi JamesI have just had my second ablation 4 days ago I strongly echo the idea to read the factsheets but would stress( having not done it too well last time) rest fully for at least a week.

It does seem as if there are some other rules as time goes by. The main one being that heavy lifting seems to be the most likely cause for afib to return long after the ablation seems to have succeeded so my second advice is keep reading occasionally the posts even if you are sorted because there are things you can help others with and some really useful advice

Good luck James. I am 36 hours in from mine. A cryo ablation at a good centre. At first, probably from the anxieties of the procedure and anticipation I was mainly tired. I have a tight chest and had indigestion yesterday as well, it is uncomfortable lying on my left side. I took it very easy, light pottering only, basin wash, allowed self to be waited on. I then had a headache but paracetamol and a nap lifted it. This morning it is tempting to swing back to normal. Hard to know what resting should comprise. Zoom work calls on Tuesday? Be driven to a psrk to walk with daughter and toddler next Saturday? How much of a slug should I be for best outcomes?

As we say in the fact sheet. nothing the first week and not a lot more the second and then ease in gradually. Listen to your body and never exercise more than if you can't talk at the same time.

I have a “loop recorder” implanted in my chest region to record heart rhythms. I am a little over 2 weeks since my second ablation and feel comforted to know that all rhythms are being recorded. Afib can be relatively asymptotic as was my case. I was quite shocked to see the frequent reoccurrence of afib after my first procedure failed. Something to think about for all......good luck!!!

Hi James I am packing my bag as I write in preparation for my 1st ablation at Barts tomorrow. Have to admit I am feeling really nervous. How long did yours take? Did you feel anything? X I’m really glad you are out the other side but please do rest and don’t be fooled into doing too much too soon x

Hi thanks trying to take things very easy. Didn’t feel anything at all during procedure. After I had the feeling of heartburn owing to pipes etc but has started to wear off now. Groins a bit sore and feel quite tired but feeling better as time goes by. Hope all goes as well with your treatment and as you say take it easy after and rest 👍👍

Hi Tim hope you feeling good? . Just weird not being able to just get up and go around doing usual things. Have to keep reminding myself to rest. However if I do a bit feel tired quite quickly . Otherwise all going okay . James
