Afternoon guys!!I am home from my cardiology appt.
Consultant has ruled out AF and PAF. He doesn't think its POTS (postural.hypothensive tachycardia syndrome) he doesn't think its an electrickery problem.
He's not sure what it is, or even if it's my heart. Being sent for an echo and a monitor for 3 or 7 days.
Potential for a cardiac MRI.
No referral to EP as no faulty electrics shown..
ECG showed slow HR. (Nowt new there!) Not bad for someone on meds for anxiety!!
He threw the consideration of post viral syndrome......so maybe something like Myalgic encephalitis /chronic fatigue syndrome/.
The more I think about ME and look at its symptoms....the more I sway towards it.
I used to go to the gym 3 times a week, work 40 hours plus a week. Run the house (cos I married a man child! 🤣🤣🤣) meet up with friends all in 1 week.
Now I'm wiped for 2 days after a train ride to Ĺeeds, with a 35 min walk (split into small walks)
Anyhoo , just thought I'd update you all! Thank you for listening and being here.
Such a relief to have the appointment done with.
🥰🥰

ME is a common reason Drs give for symptoms that can easily be thyroid related. If you have your latest test results maybe post them on Thyroiduk forum for their input, it may be you need a dose change as your symptoms do shout undermedicated.
Are you regularly checked to make sure the dose does not need tweaking? Once a year is absolute minimum. My GP maintains that we need more thyroid hormone in winter. Also get the numbers . Do not rely on GP to say it's fine. They will say that if it's anywhere in range. Some of the ranges ( yes -different labs have different ranges!)for TSH can go as high as 5.5. Well you can feel very different with a TSH of 5.5 than one of 1.5.
Thats great news! It does sound like ME/CFS which isn't great news but not the worst! My husband has had this for 8 years. He made the condition worse by going back to work too soon, but a big improvement when he learned to recognise when to stop and rest. You can't push yourself with ME or the symptoms get worse! And graded exercise makes people more ill. Train up your family to help with the housework and cooking!
The 24 hr tape had 1x run of tachy with symptoms. HR133. Person who interpretated the tape put aberrant AF. Cardiologist says not. Says more like atrial tachycardia. 🤯
So they misdiagnosed…I have a mixture of Afib, aflutter and atrial tachycardia and all three look very different on an ECG. It’s ‘bad’ that this happened and a bit worrying. I suppose no ‘harm’ was done but misdiagnoses of the heart by a cardiologist can cause unnecessary harm and worrying.
That's good news. Well done, a relief I sure. Especiallyif you're someonewho experiences anxiety. I have underactive thyroid and am menopausal alongside long long standing AF and it can be hard to know what's triggering what at times but the fatigue with an underactive thyroid was like nothing I've experienced before (I'm sure you can relate) and when they got the meds right I felt such a relief. Similarly with menopausal symptoms. Incredible relief from hrt. Both very different from my heart issues which are ongoing and not responding to any intervention. Hope you get somewhere soon with it all. For now, good point to pause and feel the relief of no underlying heart issues. 🌸
Hope you find out what it is- I seem to have ME or chronic fatigue after many active years but still here and fortunately have a husband to do the things I am no longer up to.
Hi, I have had M.E for nearly 40 years. When I first became ill with it I was getting palpitations, heavy feeling in chest, extreme tiredness, brain fog and aches & pains. I was put off work for 6 weeks for complete rest then back part time for a few weeks. I ended up in hospital for tests as all the normal blood tests were negative. In the end I was told its a virus! Trouble is I now have angina & af although I used to have svt!! I hope you get a proper diagnosis because the sooner you rest the more chance of recovery if its m.e. Good luck!
Hi Cheryl - hope you don’t mind me asking - were you experiencing anything at the time of your appointment? Reason I ask is I had a few appointments and none picked anything up which kept me rolling with no diagnosis/no treatment - finally got a private appt and got a Kardia device a week before and recorded masses of ECG’s to take - while I was there not a sign of anything but asked to see the Kardia readings on my phone and told me straight away definitely AFib and signs of Flutter / not suggesting this is the case but thought it worth mentioning
I’ve literally just been listening to a podcast by Dr Mark Hyman (functional medicine) about adrenal issues. And reading about how you used to live a VERY hectic lifestyle I wonder it’s something you might consider looking into?
Went through surgical menopause 8 yesterday ago due to Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. Been on HRT since. And started Menocomplex supplements in August last year.💪💪💪
