Maybe a small smile at my expense! I'm new to AF and in the panic about it all I rushed to buy myself a KardiaMobile device. I did do some reading through the blogs here and also leaned on what the British Heart Foundation had on their website. ** This is not a review or endorsement of the product. I haven't used it enough ** And if you read on you'll definitely know it's not!
I pride myself in being someone who pays attention to detail, reads and follows the instructions for everything I buy. Even for the meds I read through the entire pamphlet.
For about 5 days I've been taking a reading in the morning and the evening. The device confirming AF and definitely reflecting this on the chart. However, I was quite concerned as the QRS looked really strange. Small Q big R - rather than the other way around (I hope I got those right π€).
Well last night I figured out that I had been using the device the wrong way around - π€£π - Left fingers on the right sensor and right fingers on the left sensor! The graph is effectively upside down.
You just gotta laugh sometimes π€£π€£π€£

I have AF and had a successful cardioversion but have gone back into AF. Am I missing something huge here, I know when I go into AF as my heart rate shoots up and I generally feel unwell. So how would a Kardio mobile tell me something I already know. If you are in AF how does the device help. This is a genuine question and not a bait question. Many thanks and hope you enjoy the sunny less windy day today
Like you I can tell fairly easily that I'm in AF. I just wanted something to help me track what was happening and gather data that I could share if needed.y own curiosity too I guess. The device doesn't change anything but helps me monitor variations. I'm not sure yet whether it gives me peace of mind or adds anxiety. Hope that answers your question. Best wishes on your recovery.
It can help provide evidence for diagnosis, if not captured on holter monitor/ hospital device or you can't get to see a medic during an episode.
Three of my sisters were diagnosed from Kardia evidence. Doctors don't always believe their patients and fob people off with saying it was imagined or palpitations are harmless etc, etc.
I had already got a diagnosis befor I got the Kardia but I like to know exactly what is happening re my heart and general health.
I was aware of episodes when I had paroxysmal AFib but not everyone are.

Many people want to confirm bpm, whether or not they are back in sinus rhythm or going into AFib, etc. My cardiologists like to see my Kardio charts when I see them.
You've got a cardiologist never seen mine the nearest I got was a specialist nurse who did the cardio version. Still waiting to find out the results of my heart MRI ! But point taken I did have two day holt monitor so similar in a way to a Kari
Wow good luck on your MRI results! Hoping for the best!
Yes, at the medical clinic I use there is a team of 15 MD cardiologists (2 EP's) and 11 PA's at 2 locations within 30 minutes of me so getting in to see someone (once you get established as a patient) is pretty easy and usually pretty quick.
I see your in the States that explains it. I'm in the UK and sadly like our country the NHS has gone down the toilet. Shame as my mother and sister worked there all the lives and now my daughter does too. Had to pay privately to get a diagnosis. Only good thing I have found is that if you haven't had the result of a procedure it's normally OK otherwise they ring up ASAP. Where in the states are you have travelled there several times.
Well I'm in good company then π I thought it didn't matter. And should've know better after having so many ECGs and watching the clinician select the correct leads for the correct side. π«£π
I recall more than once when Iβve had a βproperβ ECG the nurse has had to switch the electrodes around after running it, so even an expert finds it confusing.
