Hi Cherie, it seems like a very unfortunate side effect and I don’t really have a suggestion other than finding a shampoo that might help. Some seem to give the hair more volume thus making it look thicker. I wish you well.

This is a regular question so you could try doing a search.

Anticoagulants seem to make your hair brittle so it breaks easily. My advice would be to treat your hair very gently. Keep it short. Wash as seldom as possible with a gentle shampoo and nourishing conditioner. Dry gently with a cool dryer and brush with a soft brush. Don’t use colouring unless you can find one that is good for your hair. And make sure your diet is good.

If you find the recent post about the same thing there is much more advice but that is basically it.

I was on Xarelto, but when I read on this site that Eliquis was the better drug for AF, I changed to that. Since changing, I have found the 'shedding' much less. I have long hair with short side fringe to soften the look as I wear my hair in an up style (do not want to look like a witch, which is a danger over a certain age), I do not over wash my hair as I have been told that is the worst thing you can do - use a gentle good quality volumizing shampoo and conditioner, and am not averse to buying a box of colour (which I find gentler than the hairdresser's mixture) to brighten up my fading blonde hair (I'm 80).!

I have been taking Eliquis for about 7 years & have only recently experienced hair loss, so I don’t think it is the Eliquis but rather as you age your hair gets thinner & I am 74. However the Eliquis has prevented any blood clots & or strokes which is wonderful
