I have a history of total collapse and this has continued after having a pacemaker fitted so i now havr an ILR as well. I used the device yesterday because i felt lightheaded (not dizzy), was short of breath and had intermittent nausea, which lasted a few hours. Saw Cardiologist today and am told that all the ILR showed was one ectopic!! Does this mean that when i activate it, they are only seeing that moment? Any ideas appreciated.

By ‘total collapse’ - do you mean you lose consciousness? Or something else?

Not sure what you mean by ‘activate it’? My understanding is that an ILR records and downloads everything and is used for long term constant monitoring? If you have a pacemaker fitted that will also store and download information.

If both devices did not show up any heart discrepancies other than occasional ectopic then maybe your symptoms were caused by something else? Maybe you need to go back and talk to your GP and ask them to explain when your GP has received the cardiology report.

Best wishes

I had an ILR fitted last December, I was informed that when I activated it, an operator would look 7 minutes prior to the activation to see lead up to the event. My understanding is other than this data is downloaded for previous 24 hours once a day.

I hope that helps and you get some answers soon.

Best regards

I hear your concern. Your symptoms sound like POTs. I thought I had that but it morphed into AF. That said, I collapsed (sudden drop in BP/dizzy/nauseous/unable to stand without fainting) after my ablation and the Intensive Care nurses said I was an enigma but definitely had some type of autonomic issue! I see the cardiac electrophysiologist next month who will give me feedback on my ILR. Hope he doesn’t say just ectopics as I certainly have experienced my fair share post ablation but the syncope needs addressing :-) Ask about autonomic dysfunction??

The ILR will record events that last a minimum length of time, so I dont think they will record lone ectopics, but if they go on for 10-20 secs then it should log it.

If you are putting a marker on, whne you have an episode, mine will record 3 only and then overwrite the markers, although it still records the event, If you download from your bedside recorder then they will get back to you if its worrying and this does not have a limit.

MIne has just showed 18 events in the last 3 months
