I had my pacemaker adjusted three times and now that it’s right for me I feel amazing so don’t feel despondent all can be well.

At what heart rate does your pm kick in may I ask? Mine is set at 50bpm and I feel exhausted on any exercise attempted. Any advice would be AppreciatedTom

I think it was set at 60 but to be honest I don’t take much notice of it now. I am fit and healthy and very relieved to be rid of the awful fatigue. It has changed my life. I now walk for approximately one and a half hours every and never give my pacemaker a thought.

You might like to ask about rate response too - that is when your pacemaker responds to increased exertion. It can be a two-edged sword though: I think it works on the basis of 'jiggling' the pacemaker and, sometimes, for example, being in a car on a rough road can cause your heart to race.

Modern pacemakers have a variety of settings. They aren't just running at one pace. It may take a little while to get it set up correctly for you.

I suspect they haven’t adjusted your rate response. Mine still doesn’t give me enough beats when e.g. going up hill. The pacemaker clinic says they want to err on the side of caution.

My 5 year old pacemaker is a bit crude in rate response. Can anyone give me a clear account of how it actually does it?

But, overall, Farmlady, you are only at the start of this and within a few weeks they should undoubtedly have sorted you.

Yes and no one knows why.

I had this done last year and it took me a good four months recovering from it before I really began to feel the benefits of it. Now I can say it's really improved my life and the quality of it. Just be patient and I'm sure you will find the same. 🤩

thank you. Good to know. They told one week and I would be back to old self. Not yet anyway. Glad you are doing well

when I saw your initial post ..I thought maybe I had posted it in the middle of the night, and forgot! But I had my P&A 10 days ago. Although I am sleeping I feel tired and get SOB on any exertion, shower, walking. Little disappointed. But I understand everyone heals differently and I appreciate all the comments about time and pace adjustment. So Farmlady I’m in the same boat. Time & tweaking will tell. 🙏

we will get there! Hope you fast recovery
