After all I’ve been through, 0500am my heart suddenly went into NSR for real honest!!!
HR 67-74 is - 4 months post op ablation!!
I’m still breathless on walking short distance, bending etc but all vitals perfect! My personal theory for the latter- now on too much Bisoprolol but I’m changing nothing yet - sent all to EP - my GP was in shock like me (please let it stay)
Hope you are all well or getting there too xx

Thanks so much Ludham, it’s a worry when when you have the AF now a worry will it stay but I am staying calm, happy & thankful right now - best wishes to you too x
That's great news. I guess your body will need a few days to pick up energy again, after all having your heart out of its normal beat and going fast, it probably thinks you've been competing in a race for days on end.
I am delighted to hear that your heart has gone into NSR and that your vitals are perfect, especially after everything you've been through. It must be an incredible feeling to have a moment of relief after such a challenging journey. I am sure that this is a sign of positive progress and a step in the right direction towards better health. I send positive energy your way - you got this.
Thank you Paul, it is - actually in shock - like when you’ve had a procedure and it gone into NSR and you constantly wait for the flutter and it doesn’t happen - disbelief & hope right now (been a long years) You take care too xx
Congratulations on your return to NSR , Flipper! Long may it continue for you. Here’s one of my black cats with her paws crossed in the hope that things are finally on the up for you 😊x
Hello Hilianna, how are you doing? Hoping things are on the up for you too! My GP is absolutely lovely, I cannot fault her. She has mad a point of right from the beginning of this saga last year - she contacted me every week and is still contacting me every month to see I’m Ok but always says if I need anything before don’t hesitate to call. She was concerned when I’d told her of the prescribing errors I’d had with my chest from other practice members and I’m sure that’s due to when other GPs get involved when your regular one isn’t in!
Brilliant. Ask your doctor if you can also take a daily dose of Lansoprazole as this settles the stomach and also works to settle your heart. ( the stomach is close to the heart and an upset stomach can cause palpitations) Walk a mile or so daily and keep your weight down. I also take 2.5 mg of bisoprolol daily. That should do the trick. Good luck. Also make sure you stay on the blood thinners until the doctor says otherwise..
Thanks I will, not able to rush as get light headed. I don’t really understand the heart rate variable but that’s gone pretty low so maybe it’s that. Sent data to consultant so should hear this next week xx
Great news! I’m keeping everything crossed for you. Getting my 3 month post ablation check this week, hoping to find out next steps. Can’t quite believe that I will ever be in NSR again.
Are you anxious about the appointment or not sleeping well - could you just now be used the the post op effect and can now do a lot more so you tire yourself out more?
I have insomnia and I’m sure some of that affects my energy but not all - does rest help, are you bright &breezy in the morning then energy drops? Just a few ideas to look out for and maybe mention to Dr xx
Mornings are the worst. It’s more when I’m out on walks - getting ever shorter - and just don’t seem to have any energy in my legs. That wading through treacle feeling. Though I did get up the three steep flights of steps to my daughter’s new flat today. Had to pause on each landing with the lack of leg oomph, though weirdly I didn’t get out of breath. (One thing that I’m lucky with so far.)
I was looking forward to the appointment, but as it draws nearer I’m getting nervous. My Apple Watch ‘cardio fitness reading has had an inexorable downward trend since I went into persistent A Fib in October. Even more so since the ablation. The GP said to ignore it, but it’s gone from ‘high’, through ‘above average’ and if it keeps tracking down then it will soon be ‘below average’. I know it’s just an algorithm, and I don’t have a higher spec of the Watch, Yet since it matches how I feel….
I had an MRI as part of a study, and one incidental finding was a lowered heart function since my echo last year. They thought it was just an underestimate due to the A Fib. So I should get an echo this week, cross fingers. They also noted a haemangioma in one vertebra - not a problem, but could be contributing to the back pain that has been around for years - and is really bad right now.
So I get worried in case the ablation has made things worse, and wondering what is next. I’ve found that I’m listed for cardioversion, so hope to find the likely timescale and whether a change of meds is advised. Just on Bisoprolol and apixaban right now - neither dronedarone nor Flecainide has worked on the rhythm.
Aww G_C you sound like you’re my twin from last years! I too have a haemangioma in the ball of my foot and when it gets inflamed it pulses and painful in shoes etc but I’ve found the apixaban seems to have helped the blood flow. I can’t remember your bisoprolol dose but that gives me that feeling you describe of wading nowhere! I take a high dose when I have the AF but now the NSR reared it’s head I think the dose is too high for normal HR
I wonder if you asked about Digoxin - it’s old fashioned hardly used but I’d been on it about 18 days the boom NSR.
I was put on Flec after the first CV and left on it - 2nd CV lasted 7weeks and the ablation put up a good fight lasting 7weeks also. I wonder if you were on a rhythm control prior to CV - maybe worth an ask!
Try to just walk and stop walk and stop which is what I have to do at the moment. I’ll try to send some of my magic your way xxx
Magic very welcome! I’ve been thinking that the dreaded Amiodarone might be suggested for before/after the cardioversion.
I’m on 2.5mg Bisoprolol now, but I know just what you mean about it being too much when you go into NSR. Last time I reverted was a few months ago, following Flecainide plus 2.5mg Bisoprolol as a PIP. It worked that one time, though I had to take it two days… Went into NSR and my Kardia initially said ‘unspecified 31 BPM’. It gradually rose. Felt really rubbish that day, then a good night’s sleep and I was fine.
Following month the PIP didn’t work, then daily Flecainide didn’t work.
Difficult to tell how much the symptoms are the condition or the medication really.
Anyway, I’m really hoping this is you back in NSR long term, it does feel so much better once it’s settled back in!
I’ve never been offered PIP even when PAF but maybe back then (mid 2000) it wasn’t thought of! Often it’s the last thing you try isn’t it or like the Digoxin out of the old tea chest and dusted off for a trial!
I’d been seeing my GP last year for a couple of weeks (not the regular one) and my HR was getting higher & higher and they called A/E who said give me Amiodarone. . I lasted 4 days and then realised every dose I took, it would take fewer hours between doses to realise I was reacting badly to this drug. I am though sensitive & allergic to many things.
Flecainide at first gave really odd reactions to the point I said I didn’t like the feelings ( they said I could stop but the AF would return) it did, I couldn’t wait to get myself back on it (worst of the 2 evils)
Try to think positive, even though it’s hard at times to think anything but! I’ve often looked for positive words or phrases and thought “yeah right” then all of a sudden I just feel positive and strong either from nowhere, or family and friend or even total strangers - like on this forum - we’re all with you, every which way you turn, and if you fall someone will catch you 😊🤗 xx
Your heart flipped back!! So pleased for you. If it can do it once, it can so it again if need be. The first time my heart reverted spontaneously with no extra meds felt like a milestone for me too.
This is the 4th time in 12 months, lasted 4 days post CV, then 7weeks post another CV, 7weeks post ablation and now flipped itself this time. AF has been my gremlin since probably before 2007 - I hope it stays good now x
More shocked than ecstatic I think, I’ve been here before - I’m obviously very happy just a bit scared to get too over enthusiastic if you see what I mean x
Now it is up to you to trust in GOD and continually thank HIM an tell HIM how grateful you are for what He has done with your afib; for whether through EP, cardiologist, cardiovision, abalation, mini maze etc., it is only GOD that is overseeing what is being done and responsible for the outcome. I am so glad that HE has Blessed you with relief from afib, just enjoy it while it lasts and never stop thanking HIM. Will be praying for you. Have a Blessed Day!
No never had that one, Losartan I reduced from 190mg to 25mg p/day, Bisoprolol seems 12.5mg has been my niche (currently in divided doses of 7.5mg & 5mg p/day) apart from a while up at 15mg just before the November ablation
Hi there, thank you Cheri - I’m so glad you’ve found what works for you, such a shame we’re we’re not all like a computer programme that when they they find the answer they roll it out, plug us in and flip the switch - hey presto you’re then off the conveyer belt. Hope you stay comfortable and well xx
Hi MummyLuv, yes I wanted to dance to your beat - how are you doing? Have you had any even slight flutters? I had about 2-3 yesterday which was odd in that even though I had AF till 5 days ago I’d not felt it since last year, obviously I was worried thinking it was was back again!
You will be worried. It’s natural, it’s easy to say relax 😂 I’ve not had any afib but I do get PVCs and bigeminy now and again. I’m far more aware of these than a normal person having been tuned into my heart for so long 🤣
