Hi all, I went to Cardiologist today who put me on ECG and said my AF has gone... the Flecainide worked but I did a running session before I took it to see if I could shock it back into Sinus maybe the combo of both worked. However she detected Flutter, which is new to me and possibly caused by the Flecainide as it can do that. On a side issue my new Apple Watch said I was in Sinus just before I saw the doctor today.
My dilemma is they had made a booking for tomorrow to Cardiovert my AF and she said they would do the flutter instead. Am I thinking wrongly but I will ask in the morning why don't we stop the Flecainde and see if Flutter goes away.
My first Cardioversion was end of September. I've noticed when not in AF my brisk walking speed is 85-95bpm and pre AF it was higher, my wife gets into the 85-120 mark.
Many thanks...again

Well Oz wishing you the best. I had flutter consistently for two years, finally went in for the long reccomended cardioversion on October 10th. Really has made a huge difference HR at rest 52 rather than 70s and can work in the yard again. just feel much much better. They say I remain in Rythm so for me it was very helpful. Hope you have a great result if you go that route.
thanks for reply, how do you know if the Atrial Flutter is back, do you always feel it, right now I barely sense it occasionaly when I walk fast and stops I know its there
I dont understand how a cardioversion proceedure can differentiate between different arrthymias. It briefly stops the heart to restore nsr, hopefully.Flecanide should be taken with a betablocker to avoid flutter.
I had both af and flutter for years and had an ablation for both in June . All well and nsr since. Flutter has a 95 to 99% success rate,af varies.
I’ve had the Cardioversion for the flutter and all good for a couple of days until I ate dinner to quick. I felt incredible anxiety and couldn’t relax for a couple of hours. My Apple Watch says sinus but it was wrong the other day when I was in flutter. All I can say is my pulse feels normal just a little quicker. How do I know if I’m in flutter?
I've had many chemical cardioversions for flutter as it is more effective than electrical shock according to the cardiologist. Most Afib patients have electrical cardioversions.
Flecainide finally stopped my acute Aflutter for a year before my ablation.
thanks for info and hope you have 100% success with ablation just done!
I’ve just discussed with Cardiologist who said that ablation for atrial flutter has a higher success rate if done earlier than later. This was my first flutter experience We’ve locked in the CV for the flutter so hopefully I can have a relax over Christmas
