Tht is a common sign of magnesium overdose. I do hope you had your decimal in the right place.
Magnesium taurate should be, at recommended not extreme doses, should be quite mild on your digestive tract. Perhaps you need to look at the dose you are taking, though you could just be sensitive to a particular type/ brand of magnesium. Could try another brand if issues persist? My two cents anyways - hopefully your system stabilizes soon.
Agree with listerines — I've had no digestive issues with taurate, and I'd also suggest checking the dose and maybe trying another brand?
I know we're all different, which is what makes afib such a tricky beast, but I can only say that in the six or so weeks since I started down this route — I'm taking a total of 1720 mg magnesium taurate + 150 mg elemental magnesium p/d in two capsules, one morning and one night — I've seen a very significant drop-off in the number, length, and intrusiveness of eps. I'm also sleeping much better.
I don't take anything else — prescription or OTC — to manage my afib.
I took high doses of magnesium citrate and for two years I had no AF, no more lifetime insomnia and no more constipation. Miraculous! However after two years the AF returned so I suppose I had too much in my system. Taurate is supposed to be easier on the bowels but maybe check out the other magnesiums too. Are you AF free?
magnesium citrate is known to have a laxative effect, i personally use it for that reason as well as afib, there are many types of magnesium , experiment until you get one that agrees with you, also sometimes it may take your system time to adjust.
This can only mean that you are taking more than the body needs or can absorb. Have you had a blood text to see if your are actually deficient? Magnesium salts are only ever absorbed as needed (and all kinds of magnesium work equally well in this sense). Any excess remains in the bowel to be excreted with the stools. This can cause mild irritation of the bowel and cause it to draw in extra water, as you have found. This laxative effect - as well as being used as an antacid in the form of magnesium oxide or hydroxide - are the main clinical uses for magnesium salts. There's actually no evidence that it works for arrhythmias or on the heart, even though many try it for that purpose.
I'd say if you are especially sensitive, to reduce the dose till you don't get any bowel issues, as it will still be being absorbed. If you are extra sensitive (and even if not...), it is really much better to take these minerals as they naturally occur in vegetables, nuts, pulses and similar. Taken like this rather than as a chemical will not affect the bowel at all and give all your body needs.

l can’t take the tablet form of Magnesium as l have same problem. I use BetterYou Magnesium Body Spray. It works a treat for me. Best wishes.
I can only use magnesium topically due to bowel irritation. I tried many forms and brands. All bothered me. I do epsom salt in my bath and apply a magnesium lotion at bed time,

I tend to have similar diarrhoea problems with even small doses of magnesium, the Better World magnesium spray makes my skin itch, and haven't found the perfect answer yet, so I shall watch the replies to your post with interest..
Thanks everyone. Going to wait until blood draw to see my magnesium levels. If they are in the normal range, probably should forego taking oral magnesium and maybe just take epsom salt baths and get magnesium through food.
What is the brand? I need a dose of that as my heart condition causes chronic constipation. Less is best in most cases with magnesium. When I first went on MinMag x 5 tablets daily I had diarrhoea for a fortnight but now it does nothing!
I use magnesium gummies made of a lower dose of magnesium. One a night. Helps with sleep and no bowel issues. I buy it through Whole Foods. They have several brands. The one I take is made by Trace Minerals.
