Morning!

Good morning from foggy Warwickshire.I posted recently about delayed follow up appointment after ablation in June and the Idiot GP who advised me incorrectly to stop heart meds in order to prescribe a wider range of painkillers( resulting in 24 hour AF episode)

Finally got a call yesterday from appointment team, I will have a phone consultation " sometime on Monday 5th Dec between 8am and 530pm" good ,but glad Im no longer working, would have been tricky taking call in front of class!

I am to be sure to tell consultant or whoever, about the response to.stopping flec and biso, said Proper GP.

I have requested, through the practice manager ,for a letter or email asking for the reasoning behind the advice.

Thank you for your support when I was fuming away!😀

Also , I mentioned my brother was in for observation due to chest oain.He confused the cardio team as all his obs were ok but had actually had a mild heart attack ( possibly 2) Showed up on diagnostics but troponin borderline, he said.

Had a stent put in within 2 days of admittance ,now home slightly stunned!

Had a good slapping off me as had been prescribed blood pressure tablets in May,didnt take them as he " felt fine "

Some members were kind enough to pick up when I mentioned he was under investigation so thought Id say.

( thats the kind of thing I wonder about in the wee small hours' wonder what they found.....!')

Have a good weekend all!

May you have a good consult. That's daft though isn't it having to hang about all day? Is it QEH - I see you're in Warwickshire- equally Foggy across the border here in Wales these last two days. Those wee small hours - amazing what they come up with but glad there's been what sounds like a good outcome for your brother.

That’s pretty scary Wilsond, because you do have to try to trust your GP. I don’t trust mine at all, they’ve made a few bloomers with my meds, but glad to hear you’re getting somewhere. Let’s know how you get on.

I had an ablation March 21, saw the cardiologist in the November who proposed an MRI in February which took place and a follow up appointment in April. Nothing transpired, I went back into AF in July and was referred back to Papworth, still heard nothing by September so chased the appointment only to be told he was seeing patients he should have seen in January!! They moved me up the list and gave me an appointment for the 8th November which was cancelled, doctor unwell!! A new appointment for 20th December now the nurses are going to strike on that date so probably another appointment cancelled. Feeling very frustrated and not well!!

Between 8.30am and 5.30pm - a nine hour window! Now don't you go to the loo or anything silly like that and miss your call! Hope all goes well.

Your brother is very lucky; my uncle didn't bother with his blood pressure tablets either and had a severe stroke. Pleased to hear your brother is well, if somewhat chastened.

Let us know how everything goes x

Wow I have my 3 month followup from St Thomas's 7 months later on Dec 5th.What if any questions are you going to ask if they give you enough time?

wilsond profile image
wilsond in reply toETHEL103

I thought to ask about these:Why wasnt I given any sedation?

Did the surgeon think he had isolated each vein?

Do I continue with flecanide as a daily dose, and can it be reduced?

Do I still need to take bisoprolol?

Will I still be on his patient list in case AF and or Aflutter returns ?

That is if he doesnt tell me the above first!

Good luck Monday!

Xx

I'm hoping to ask can I take Verapimil as a pip as I have done on 2 occasions when my hr shot up to 140 after the moderna jab in Sept. Also same as you re the possible recurring flutter, will I be still be able to contact arrhythmia nurse or am I signed of to fend for myself and have to be referred again.Good luck to you to.

My verapimil stopped immediately after ablation.

Isn't it odd that you are on your meds but mine stopped straight away apart from apicaban plus my other regular meds for bp and cholesterol etc.

wilsond profile image
wilsond in reply toETHEL103

Yes,Ive been trying to get answers for ages, seems odd.I accept apixaban, blood pressure tab, water tab,but heart meds seems daft. Oh well! Find out soon! Xx

Hi how did you get on with your followup.Mine was a bit of a surprise. It seems proff Gill is ordering a holter at my local hospital,(long wait) Then I will get a letter asking me to go back for mapping which I forgot to ask what it was.So I'm still in the loop.I was concerned I would be signed off.

wilsond profile image
wilsond in reply toETHEL103

Didnt happen! Trying to find out why. Very annoyed as waited in all day.I expect the holter is to double check there is no af with silent symptoms perhaps?

Keep calm and carry on I suppose?

Thank you for asking x

So annoying! Just reading the thread again after it popped up to the top. The delays, cancellations and sometimes simply lack of communication all add up to stress. Then of course stress isn’t good for us,

With an ablation next week, I’m already thinking ahead to which meds will be advised afterwards etc. Sometimes it’s just that bit of clarity that we need.
