Shortness of breath with minimal exertion after ablation

I had an ablation 2 weeks ago and now with minimal exertion I become breathless. It doesn't happen all of the time but when it does, it may take me a minute to catch my breath. Is this normal?

You shouldn't be exerting yourself just yet. Recovery is a long journey as we explain in our fact sheet.

Actually I'm not exerting myself unless you consider picking up a small dog and walking from one room to another. Sometimes it happens when I walk up a slight incline (my driveway). I expect it if I'm carrying something heavy, but not doing everyday things. Where is the info on this website, as I' really a newbie. Thanks

Yes it happened to me a few times after my ablation even during short walks, but it does get better as the heart regains it’s strength. Keep resting and take it day by day.

Yes, it's quite normal. Just seems to come from nowhere. I found it worse if I tried to walk any distance after eating, especially lunch times.

Hello,

I had an ablation in June, and I had shortness of breath and a cough for sometime, my EP prescribed Colchicine and that really helped with the inflammation. Maybe if you speak to your EP

It took me until week 14 post ablation to be able to start walking hills again, it does take time, Good luck

My SOB is a daily occurrence. Been 2 months since my Catheter Ablation and it is a real show stopper! During the day I could manage through my shortness of breath and everything will be fine. The real problem is at night when I try to get to sleep and I'll be lying on my right side and suddenly I'll start getting Shorter breath and cannot control it unless I get up and sit up straight or stand. As an example I had woke up at midnight and it is now 5 o'clock in the morning and I haven't slept. This is really put a drain on my body and mentally is exhausting me.
