hi guys. I just want a bit of sympathy really. Is that ok?
Got to Brighton two days before my procedure. In our motorhome, ready to rest up for a week when i get THE call ' sorry but we are having to cancel your procedure for tomorrow as we have had our GA support pulled' ๐ฒ what?!?!
I thought i was having sedation and not GA , so questioned that. Its what i discussed with the assessment nurse. I dont do GA very well. Puzzled about that.
So its a bit of an unplanned holiday in Brighton for us. Not too shabby only i packed for recovery and not gadding about. Lots of reading material and games.
Im going to look at it like a trial run!
Funny thing is i have been in sinus since being told, whereas i was having all sorts of events prior to coming here. Anxiety has melted away. We shall see how long it lasts ๐ค.
Be well all of you and if your in the south of England, stay dry! โ๐ง

Sorry to hear this, what a hassle and faff not to mention all the dtress and reorganisation involved. Hope you can enjoy your break away and your current nsr status holds for you. Hoping you get a replacement app very soon.
The first after arriving at the hospital at 7:30 to first be told you are first in the list only to be told an emergency had to take precedence. I negotiated a cardioversion as I had been in AF for a couple of weeks.
The second was cancelled after I had an allergic reaction to a steroid medication they had prescribed to counteract my tendency to have an allergic reaction to all the pads and leads they attached to me.
On both occasions I had to wait a further month for a new admission.
I totally understand how you must feel because as all of us that have been through an ablation there is a lot of stress and worry leading up to the event.
If it makes you feel any better mine was cancelled on the day, as I lay on the bed waiting to go to the cath lab, because the x-ray machine had broken down.
Hi. I can empathise with you having had 4 ablations cancelled. In fairness more than once it was because my blood tests (INR) meant I was at risk of clots but the one time my bloods were within target range and I was about to arrive at the hospital they cancelled due to problems in the cath lab. As I am generally asymptomatic the cardiologist and I have agreed to watch and wait so Ive come off the waiting list. I do hope you get sorted in the near future,
sorry to hear about your last minute cancellation, very frustrating but welcome to Brighton ๐
If you are still here and want to do something to lift your spirits Saltdean lido has doggie swim sessions on over the weekend. Iโve been down to watch a couple of the sessions and have come away with aching cheeks from grinning so much!! They have a fabulous time!! Thereโs also a lovely cafe directly opposite on the top of the cliff for a nice cuppa and/or eats afterwards.
Look how many of us are in Brighton! Sadly not sea swimming weather. Centre of the known universe! So sorry about the cancellation- speak to arrhythmia nurse? Any of you have Dr Julio Calva as your EP?
thank you Pete. I had my 1st ablation there quite a few years ago now. If i get too many issues i may just look at going back there or Portsmouth where i had my 3rd. I have been offered a pace and ablate at Portsmouth but i wanted to try another ablation first. No going back from a AV node ablation.
You are right. I have resisted a pace & ablate but mainly because I have had severe Urticaria allergic reaction following ablation procedure.
What has happened is since my last ablation my heart has settled down well but with Bradycardia. My EP at UHS has now suggested just a pacemaker but I am still resisting until they do allergy tests on me with the components of the pacemaker.
I had a delayed severe urticaria reaction after my ablation. When i phoned the nurse to report she said it was unlikely to be because of the abalation! Do you know what in particular caused yours, and how soon after did it flare up?
Multiple patch tests proved that my skin was allergic to over 100 different chemicals and metals. This included the electrodes they use attached to my body during the ablation and for ECGs for example.
Consequently Iโve been very reluctant to go forward with a pacemaker until my medical team can prove to me that I will not have an allergic reaction to either the leads or the metals which comprise the pacemaker.
I was told by my EP years ago that I need a pacemaker and still Iโm waiting for a tests to take place.
I know that I am in unusual case I must be having had seven ablations but I donโt want a situation where I am reliant on a pacemaker and have a terrible urticaria as a result.
For my final three ablations the anaesthetist sprayed a product called OpSite onto my skin and this formed a barrier between the electrodes in my body thus minimising the allergic reaction which still happened but was a lot milder.
doing just that Jetcat. Making lemonade out of lemons and so on, but in a great place with two souls i love, my partner and my dog, not too shabby ๐Thank you.
you canโt beat that. It sounds lovely. Especially the lemons. I make a lot of lemon water. My work friends just canโt understand how I can drink it.๐๐
