Bob could I ask you please if your pulsatile tinnitus is in 1 or both ears. As mine is only in the 1 ear I have to go for an MRI and am feeling very anxious about it. Many Thanks.

Right ear only. No doctor has ever worried about it or offered to investigate.

Thanks Bob. That makes me feel better. Maybe an over cautious Junior Doctor. I only went for a BP check anyway .

I also had pulsatile titinus with AF, thankfully now disappeared and am left with ordinary tittinus on and off which corresponds with me feeling ‘off’. COVID made it a lot worse. I haven’t taken Biso since 2014 so I can’t blame it on that.

Not from Bisoprolol but from Flecainide…….and sadly in both ears continuously.

I have it but didn’t realize it could be connected to the Bisoprol

I have it also and was on Bisop for 20 years. Changed not to Multaq but the pulsitile tinnitus is still there.

Yes, I developed tinnitus after about a year of taking Bisoprolol. It disappeared within 48 hours of moving from Bisoprolol to Diltiazem. Fortunately it hasn’t returned.

That’s very interesting Herbie30. I’ve just switched from Bisoprolol to Diltiazem so I look forward to possibly losing the tinnitus! Have you noticed any other changes?

Mmmm...tinnitus with AFers seems to be still a bit of a mystery. I have pulsatile T and only take Flecainide. TBH I can't remember exactly when it started, sometime around AF starting, drugs & anxiety. I believe I can turn down the volume by eating lighter with less gluten & sugar; maybe just the latter. Reducing anxiety is still a work in progress despite not having AF for years and I found the T rarely troubles me now ....BUT would prefer to be without it!

I have tinnitus particularly loud this morning, i think i had it mild or quieter before taking bisoprolol 1.25 mg, dont know if its natural progression or bisoprolol, very hard to pinpoint something when it occurs over long period, but , annoying none the less.

ah, I notice that, esp like now, sat down on a lazy Sunday morning. I just assumed it’s the apixaban causing it, as tinitus can be caused by blood vessel issues near your ears…..

Ive had Pulsating Tinnitus on and off over the years and never worried about it . I have it now after a sinus flair up. Because its only 1 ear Doc sending me for MRI. I must admit I feel very nervous about it.

Hi

No and at one stage I was taking 10mg split dosage daily.

I did have a period tinnitus years ago. It turned out to be stress.

I decided to look forward to something great. I tripped over to Rome, bought a 1st class ticket for trains and went.

I returned well and happy that I had found a solution.

No - I’ve had tinnitus for years before and it’s particularly bad before a PAF attack …. like a personal early warning system. If I ignore it seems PAF hits within 3 - 4 hours. If I slow down, relax and do some yoga / meditation the tinnitus dials down and the day passes without event. It’s with me 24/7 - well not quite true as in my dreams I never have tinnitus. I love my dreams !
