The dose will be on the bottle and will depend upon the percentage of magnesium citrate in the formulation. If it isn't clear, always check with a pharmacist. All magnesium laxatives must be taken with a full glass (250ml) of water.

When needed, I take 30-45ml of Milk of Magnesia before bed (this is magnesium hydroxide suspension, containing 415mg / 5ml). It has never failed to work well with very little side effects of stomach cramping, but it can cause looseness.

hi

I buy NuU magnesium citrate capsules, vegan, on Amazon. Normally I take just one in the evening with water but if I have become dehydrated and then constipated I take 2 capsules, and the next day things get back to normal.

Possibly the best practice is to gradually increase the dose until you get the runs, and then cut back a little. I am taking two a day which adds up to 840mg (Solgar 420mg tablets). 420mg is, according to their label, 100% of the RDA. Works for me for a couple of years now.
