sudden rapid heart rate : Hi all, iv... - Atrial Fibrillati...
sudden rapid heart rate
Probably isn't one. Hearts do funny things. Just to be clear palpitations is just a term that says you are aware of your heart so it has no technical meaning.
If it happens a lot try and get a reading on your kardia and send it to your EP .
I would guess you were sat slouched and so engrossed in what you were watching the you were not breathing deeply enough, hence your heart protested.

Hi130. Well, I was up at 186 on Metropolol. That was avge rest was 150.
You are not controlled enough on your meds.
Finally saw a private specialist who was interested. I had had 2 x 24hr monitors. And left. Changed from Metroprolol to Bisoprolol another BB by DHB specialist but did not control.
The priv put me on CCB Diltiazem but 180mg too much. Twinked so..
Diltiazem 120mg am. and Bisoprolol 2.5 night.
Kept BP at 123/72. 77-88 H/R day. 47 night
Controlled.
You need someone interested. JOY. 73. (NZ)
I get this, sometimes quite regularly, although fortunately not so much this last couple of months. It comes and goes. I take one tablet of 1.25mg bisoprolol when it occurs and that help after about an hour or two and last well over a day. Mine is often between 85-125bpm. it often shows as "NSR with Wide QRS" on the Kardia. My GP and cardiologist say it is nothing to worry about. Mine is often accompanied by ectopic beats, sometimes in runs (i.e. palpitations).

Thanks so much everyone for your replies it's much appreciated
Did you have anything to eat that you could be allergic to?
Yep, I've got Afib and I'm fitted with a pacemaker, mine rises to an average of 137, sometimes for 12 hours, it was going higher but they increased my diltiazem retard and that helped. My Afib still frequently jumps from 37 to 158 which is puzzling because with a pacemaker I'm not sure it should drop below 60 lol. Oh, and I had an ablation about 9 months ago. X
Try with BYSTOLIC or it’s generic nebivolol. It works for me . Since I take it I am fine . Obviously speak with your doctor first .
Avoid anything with caffeine. Don’t fue get that one of the home things you can do to bring your palpitation down is to wash your face with cold water and also do the so called Valsalva maneuver.
