I was in afib for almost eight days. This morning I went back into NSR. With a couple of Kardia readings of NSR every other has been Sinus Rythm with wide QRS. I did contact my cardiologist after the first two readings and she said not to worry about it. I have an appointment with her on Friday. I have had a couple of readings off and on of wide QRS but never every reading. Comments?

Wide QRS

Some AF related drugs can do that.
Flecainide can cause that but my understanding is that occasional reading of wide QRS is not of concern unless it is sustained. I had those sorts of readings with Flecainide. You did well to get a consult so soon.
Mine was a little high and my cardiologist said readings very and are often impercise so not to worry.
A "wide QRS" is often, I gather, caused by a bundle branch block. These are electrical pathways from the heart's lower pacemaker (the AV / atrio-ventricular node) to the two ventricles. They can become unable to conduct for various reasons, so the heart takes longer alternative electrical pathways, resulting in a very slightly slower ventricular contraction, widening the ECG's "QRS" measurement. They are relatively common, I was told, with right bundle branch block (RBBB) more so than left, which I have. I read that they have little consequence generally, but the cardiologist I saw said that I ought to have an echo-cardiogram every couple of years as a consequence to be sure the ventricles continue to work well. My GP blames my ectopic beats on it, too.

I have the same readings with Kardia 2 or 3 times a week. I explained this to my cardiologist and he said I needn’t give it a thought.
How wide is wide? 450ms is fine. 480ms is borderline worrying and 500ms+ is worrying.
no worry. I appreciate that you bothered at all.
