What time of day are you taking Xarelto?

Doctor said with evening meal but pharmacist said I should take it with the biggest meal a day which would be lunch in my cause. Anybody else taking it at lunch?

Vital that it is taken with a full meal, preferably including some fat in order for it to be fully absorbed. A couple of years ago some people on the drug had strokes or TIA because they were taking it at breakfast time with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

My understanding, like Bob’s probably because we were at the same meeting when this was discussed, is that the time of day is immaterial as long as it is the same time each day and with the largest meal of the day.

Straight after evening meal. Do suffer from bad dreams from time to time but not sure if its the xarelto mixed with the odd glass of wine to blame? Other than that all good.

For 5 years I have taken it just after my reasonably large evening meal at 6.30 and all good.

As long as you take it with a big meal preferably with fats it doesn’t matter which time of day as long as it is the same time every dayAll the best

I’m not a vegan, but what do vegans do about the fat issue?

😯Not sure on that one. Don’t vegans eat any fat at all??

~Nuts contain fat as do avocadoes - they are 1st to spring to mind altho I am not vegan but I do have difficulty digesting fat so eat very little in way of meat~

I’m on apixaban so no restrictions there and also when I fell over and got a brain bleed after my brain tumour surgery, there is a reversal drug for that oneXx

i've always taken it after breakfast. Due to a possible problem with my digestive tract I have had a blood test to see if the level in my blood is OK and it is.

In the UK, it’s recommended to be taken in the morning with breakfast; in the US, it’s evening with dinner! Take your pick but it needs to be at the same time each day and with food.

The variations apparently arise from the initial drug registration data. It’s known that a fatty meal increases absorption but my cardiologist said any normal meal will do.

I take mine at 8 p.m. with an evening snack, though it wasn't until I read on this forum that it should be taken with a big meal. I've been on this routine for years, but plan to slowly move my timing backward to dinnertime per this information.

Always during my evening meal which could be a big warm meal or a few slices of bread with cheese. No problems for the last 4 years, except that my platelets and neutrophils are low.

Rivaroxaban didn't get on with me, pains everywhere. I was pleased when medics told me to stop taking it after 12 days. Interesting that no-one told me about having it with fat.
