I have just flown to Madeira for a few days holiday.
During the flight there was some moderate turbulence
My heart decided to do some ectopic palpitations and it was a bit uncomfortable.
Has anybody else had this experience. I have flown many times before and never really had this problem.
All is well now we have arrived.

Cannot relate to your problem Pete but pleased to hear it’s settled. Have a great time, might be a good idea to avoid the sledge ride in to Funchal though! 😉
Hi Pete, it's probably a reaction to adrenaline which you inadvertently produced due to the turbulent event.
Since my ablation my heart is very stable the majority of the time, but when I feel the old fight or flight response kick in the first sign is always a fluttering ticker. It palpatates for a minute or two then when I calm down goes back into NSR thankfully.... Enjoy your holiday mate and RELAX 🙂👍
I'm sure everyone's heart has a little race when there's turbulence. If I think I've heard a noise in the night my heart will race, but soon slows down again when I'm reassured it's nothing. Enjoy Madeira and treat yourselves to afternoon tea at Reid's Palace.
I hate flying . The only time turbulence hasn't bothered me at all was in 1976 coming back from Italy. My flight had been changed from one Rome airport to the other without me knowing ( I had confirmed it at the travel agent in Rome before the change). I had to go to Bologna by train the next day. Train was super crowded, took forever and I had no money left for much to eat! I was so stressed out by the time I got on the plane I didn't care if it crashed. Hope you are having a great holiday.
To be honest it really was by no means the worst turbulence I have experienced but as I am a nervous flyer it doesn’t take a lot for my adrenaline to flow.
Because I have had AF off & on for so many years I feel just about every single even very tiny palpitation.
So as djbgatekeeper suggests my flight or fight response doesn’t take too much to trigger it.
After hitting an intertropical convergence zone somewhere above Penang en route to Singapore on an A380, with overhead lockers springing open, aircraft creaking and folk screaming, I can confirm that the heart thuds like Billy O........ and that was before AF moved into my chest.😁.
Same here now. Hubby hates flying and just kept chanting "Never again, never again" whilst the chap behind was crying and saying "we're gonna die 😭". In fairness to the lad, it was the first time he had ever flown and he and his mate where then having to fly on to the Philippines 😳.
