Hi, All. Been pre pandemic since I've been here! Just before that started, I had an av node ablation done in early January 2020. I've felt great ever since. Highly recommended, no pain or discomfort during the procedure and it only took 45 minutes.
My latest news is that I've been put on Dapagliflozin by my cardiologist, for breathlessness. Having some nasty side effects... little red bumps on my heel, which causes deep itching. Driving me mad! Plus daily diarrhoea and bellyache. Getting thru to our surgery is a miracle in itself. Seeing a doctor face to face is almost non existent! I'm thinking of stopping this tablet myself. What does anyone here think?

Hi and good morning, can I assume you have a pacemaker when you had your AV node ablated? I had mine done 2021 and since I have been much improved. No breathless episodes and only take a blood thinner.
You should really go to your Doctors surgery and insist on a face to face, or off to A&E for a check
I would not change the drug without GP approval, If politeness fails, tell the receptionist you will hold the practice legally responsible if they do not allow you to speak to a doctor.
I was told by my cardiac nurse in the hospital to stop it for a few days if I ever developed side effects and to leave a message on the phone if I had questions.
If you are not diabetic you will want to continue to call everyday or just show-up and speak to someone as soon as you are able. The list of side effects on NHS website include:Side effects of dapagliflozin
Thrush. Ask your pharmacist to recommend an antifungal treatment for thrush. ...
Back pain. If you get sudden unexpected back pain, do not try to treat it yourself. ...
Peeing more than normal. This is a sign that you're peeing out more sugar in your urine. ...
Feeling dizzy. ...
Mild skin rash.
I had bad and severe side effects from day 1 and gave it 3 days for my body to adjust. A total bust for me. I left a message on day four and informed my doctor's assistant that it wasn't working and stopped. Again I would always recommend you advocate daily. As I am not diabetic, I felt safe going off it. I also researched online to get the story behind this drug first.
