Heat pads for neck pain

Hi everyone, do any of you use those therma heat pads. I have got awful neck pain. Also Trochanteric Bursitis pain syndrome in my right leg. I wondered if any of you have tried heat patches. It wouldn't interact with anything to do with my AF.

Maybe a heated wheat bag would be good for your neck. I use one for my back. Be careful not to heat it too much so as not to burn yourself. The heat patches are good but check if you can use directly on skin or not. Hope you find something to help. Xxx

Hi Sassy, I have tried everything. The pain in my neck makes me feel quite sick. I am Having an X-ray on my leg. And am booked for a steroid injection on the 22nd June. So I might get some relief for a bit.

Speaking as a retired Chiropractic doctor of 40 years, get professional help. Ask around and find either a chiropractor or an osteopath who is recommended by others in your community. Often heat can exacerbate an area that is already inflamed particularly with the bursitis. Go with cryotherapy, that is, try cold packs to reduce the inflammation. Heat is often throwing fuel on the fire. The neck needs a professional assessment and perhaps X-rays to help determine the cause of pain. As chiropractors do not prescribe drugs, there's no problem for the AF.

Hi GillybeanGentle heat is a well known way of getting sedation to a localised area. I have a sacroiliac joint problem which frequently gives me pain. My magic weapon is an electric heat pad which I plug in, snuggle into and put my feet up. Within a few minutes the nagging pain lessons and the disappears.

If it is your cervical spine, your neck , them a wheat bag is a great idea because it will also support your neck into its proper curves.

I use the patches if I am travelling but they seem a bit expensive to me and I am allergic to the adhesive.
