Anything like heat which makes the heart work harder will exacerbate your AF. This is you now unfortunately. Just don;t push yourself.

I have currently migrated from AF to Atrial Tachycardia and I am in that permanent state right now.

Taking Bob's point, over the past 2-3 weeks since the change in my rhythm I gradually got to accept how I feel yet as I write I can feel my heart beating whereas when it is cooler despite beating 10 to the dozen I am not anything like as aware.

Personally I cannot wait for the heatwave to be over.

Hi Mavisrich - affects me on hot nights too - I think it is dehydration that maybe triggers the AF during the night as I get so overheated and perspire - I wake up soaked!

I have found taking a big glass of water up to bed with me and drinking some every time I woke or felt like AF might be starting during the night has helped and contributed to a better night's sleep.

Heat and cold are both common triggers for AF. It's extremely important to stay well hydrated in the heat, and when possible do outdoor activities in the coolest hours. I walk 4 miles every morning and over the past few weeks we've changed our start time from 8 to 7:30 and now it is 7 a.m. so we can get the walk in before the heat and humidity make it too tough! Listen to your body and adjust activity where you can.

I don't like this hot weather. It wears me out and makes me feel ill.

Me too. Lovely day, think I'll do some laundry, I though. Now I'm too fatigued to take it off the line. Just feel worn out with this heat. Not much fun is it?

Same problem with me, can,t function at all, just bathed in perspiration.

You'll all complain just as much when it snows! Why can we never be happy with our weather? Every day is wonderful when you have had to face the possibility of not seeing another one. Just pace yourself, keep well hydrated and remember these days next winter.

I do agree with BobD that we should be grateful for each day. However, I suffer extremely in this excessive heat and am unable to function during the hottest times of the day so I do empathise with the others. Exercise is minimal and chores just have to go by the board. I can only carry on with the hope that it will soon return to normal temperatures.

I saw a good tip in my local paper, fill a hot water bottle with ice, wrap in a towel and have it in bed with you.

I sleep with picnic ice blocks wrapped in a pillow case. Then have to wear heavy cotton lab coat and apron in hot area. Heart is kicking on and off but staying hydrated is helping. Heatwave be gone!

I went into AF twice last year and I believe it was down to getting too hot. Once at a concert and once on the beach in Devon. Really trying hard to keep cool

In hot weather you have to adjust your lifestyle. You cannot expect to do as much. You may want to sleep through the heat and work when it is cool. Personally I prefer to work through heat and turn on the air conditioner at night so I can sleep. When you adjust, it gets pleasant.

There are ways to adjust. You acclimatise by doing regular moderate exercise in the heat.

Personally, I feel a sense of relief when the temperature gets above 25C: the stress of fighting the cold is very hard on my heart. My limits on heat have changed with age. Nowadays I am happy when the temperature cools down to a mild 30C. But this is at work, and in a flat with big windows. The airless transport system must be something else.

I am 8 weeks post ablation which at the moment is working well just dealing with occasional ectopics and flutters but since the weather has become so hot I am getting very strange feelings tightness and aching in my chest on top of ectopics and tired so easily I too have felt quite light headed at times. Was thinking of walking to supermarket today (very hot) but have decided against it. I guess we have to take it steady until weather cools down a little.
