Thanks everyone who responded to my post about AFib episodes post ablation. I was wondering also if anyone had any info on the damage or consequences of repeated ablation on your heart. Can it turn PAfib into permanent? Hope that is not a silly question!

Post ablation
I had three PVI before my AF was terminated in 2008 and a fourth for atrial tachycardia in 2019. What damage? No question is silly.
I have had 7 ablations. Still going and my QOL is significantly better.
I recently had an Echo Cardiogram. The verdict was an enlarged atrium but that this and my heart block was caused by over 30 years of AF not the treatment.

Once, when hospitalised a few years ago because of my AF, a consultant said to me that my heart had probably become a little stiff because of scarring caused by the two ablations I'd had. As I said in your previous post my third ablation did help.

I'm on ablation #2 and it's going well. Others here have had more. Have things settled down now for you? I had a run of AF 7 days after this procedure but none since and it's 10 weeks today.
It's not a silly question at all and all risks or possible complications should be discussed with you by your doc before the procedure. For me, no damage, no problems. Still have an occsasional bout of afib, but greatly reduced.
No question is silly unless you do not ask it. I have had 2 ablation procedures, no damage that I know of. I see my doctor tomorrow and will ask if it can cause damage.
