Was still waiting for outcome of various tests done in January following episodes of breathlessness but made decision to go to South Africa for a week's safari we'd booked having heard nothing further. Great holiday but towards end breathlessness returned with a vengence leaving me struggling to do anything! Very difficult 11 hour flight home but so pleased to be back in the UK. Had to wait until Monday to see my GP who sent me to the Bristol Heart Institute where I remain. I was already on Warfrin ( due to valve replacement in 1998) but my INR levels were"off the scale" and my heart rate very high and irregular. Chest Xray revealed fluid on my lungs so given Frusomide diurectic and lost 5kgs within a few hours!!
Now waiting a second ablation ( first done in 2020) but need to wait for INR levels to fall, Meanwhile started Dixogin to go along with Bisoprolol 5mg b.d . Told I have a degree of heart failure alongside the A/Fib.... hope things become clearer over the next couple of days.

It all sounds pretty exhausting ,but so glad you had your holiday. I’m not sure that my experience of Bisoprolol will be relevant but for what it’s worth I take one (1.25)before bed and am also on 2 Apixaban a day to guard against strokes.I am in persistent AF and like you am quite breathless at times. You sound like you have support from your doctor which is worth a lot. I am now used to being in persistent AF (after one unsuccessful cardioversion ) and walk the dog twice a day to keep ticking over and sing twice a week ,I‘m a 76 yr old grandmother . Bisoprolol gives me a measure of control over my heart rate and as I‘m on a small dose I don‘t have any serious side effects . Good luck and I hope things look up .
Thank you for your response. This is Day 8 for me at the Heart Insitutue waiting for my INR levels to settle so I can have another ablation. I have started on Furosemide to ensure fluid doesnt build up in my lungs again and Digoxin in addition to 5mg Bisoprolol morning and night, Warfarin and Atorvastatin. I will be 70 this year -so far its been an eventful one! Take care.
