Personally I check my heart rate 2-3 times a day unless I feel off. Sometimes I forget and do mornings only. I'm just under 3 weeks into my 2nd ablation. After the difficulties of week 1 it's all settled down and is going smoothly. It's up to the individual as to whether they check up on their heart rate. I nearly always know when I'm in AF anyway. Glad yours is going well too!
I was under sedation and it was carried out at St Barts
I was going to say “no news is good news” but it’s still great to hear that things are going well. We get lots of concerned comments from people during the first six months or so after their ablation then they generally go quiet as things improve. The problem is that not surprisingly, folk hear the about the early blips and that often puts them off without recognising the longer term benefits an ablation can offer ….keep it up Matt 😉
I'm approaching 6 months post ablation for afib and I am only now comfortable 'forgetting' my iWatch or Pill in Pocket emergency meds. In general I wear the iWatch if leaving the house or exercising. I am also experimenting with leaving my Polar heart strap off during exercise, but I always have that watch on. As you stated, it's important to have a way to record any wonky rhythms should they occur, but I don't spend time any longer tracking my HR or looking at every blip and beep. Also, as you stated I think it's very important to just accept and move on. Too much monitoring leads me to hyper vigilance and major anxiety issues. I think it's different for everyone but I was only comfortable testing these waters around the 4-5 month mark as my ectopics finally settled at 2 months but my confidence is only beginning to rebound after performing a stellar stress echo test to check for any issues. Best of luck on your continued recovery.
Glad to hear you are doing well. I decided to ignore monitoring and concentrate on relaxing after my ablation (I'm over 6 months in now) and only check my HR when feel a bit off - good luck.
I'm with bassets. I only checked when I felt off--during the first month or so. I'm 10 months post ablation now and maybe take my BP and heartrate once a month. Get on with life, feel and act confident, and you will stay well!
