Yes I tried them for about 3 months after trying bisoprolol and getting same from that. I eventually came off all these types of medication staying on just apixaban as side effects from bisoprolol, verapamil were worse than AFib.

I take metoprolol .75 and do have shortness of breath if I do activities like bending over, lifting, etc. A side effect of metoprolol can be shortness of breath and of course AF.

I would not classify my shortness of breath as severe. Can you describe what you mean as severe and is your heart rate being controlled - that is the key.

Also, the longer you are on metoprolol the better your body adjusts.

Short of breath with exertion . None if just sitting but can't walk or cant breathe. Rate is controlled

Best to consult with your doctor.

Should be able to walk normally without severe breathing issues.

Best to you ! Keep in mind, AF can be a mental challenge so keep a positive attitude.

Not sure my they would prescribe a beta and calcium blocker at the same time...is that normal?

Metoprolol is rate control, Verapamil rhythm control. My cardiologist offered same in smaller doses.

I’m on amlodipine (Ca channel blocker) and metoprolol (beta blocker). Plus flecainide (Na channel blocker). All fairly low doses. Breathless under exertion but not distressing. I have to come off them before my fourth ablation so not looking forward to that.

I personally can't take verapamil; I took it along with bisoprolol about a decade ago. Verapamil lowered my heart rate to 41 bpm and I frequently found myself dozing off at work, with absolutely no energy at all. It sometimes felt like my heart was just too tired to beat. There are other meds out there that are much better, more efficient and with less side effects.
