I’ve only had it twice IV for chemical cardioversion for episode of PAF. Can’t recall any unpleasant side effects. Never had in tablet form tho. I’m sure others will be very helpful with their comments and experiences of it. Take care 🦊x

I've been on verapamil for years as I can't take beta clickers and I've had no side affects. Hope it all goes well with you

I've been on Verapamil slow release version for several years with zero side effects. It's called Half Securon so one tablet a day which is very convenient.

Hi

What were your side effects? With bisoprolol?

I'm trying to find out whether the tiredness and fatigue are due toBiso or the AF.

Been on Bisoprolol since late 2020, hard to tell at first as I was at tail end of cancer treatment. Certainly definitely lack of energy at times, blood pressure was lower, thus had dizzy episodes if moved to quick, especially if sitting down for a while. Did collapse on a few occasions and was unconscious after getting out of bed too quick, dosage was reduced, but still felt dizzy. Also felt was getting breathless too easy even if walking on a straight path. Only been off bisoporol for a few days and already felt had bit more energy and not had any dizzy episodes, but early days.. hope all goes well for you.

I personally couldn't tolerate it well, having turned me very "zombie-like" while trying to cope at work (during my working days). Everyone's different; I see others on the forum had no problem with it, and hopefully that'll be the case with you too.

I’m 83 and was diagnosed with AF about 2 yrs ago, which in my case is a mix of attacks of very fast and slow heartbeat, and quite often it felt as if my heart was literally jumping around doing somersaults. Not nice. However, touch wood, it’s much better and I don’t get many attacks now. I was prescribed Verapamil (40mg - 1 x 3 times daily). It gave me terrible constipation, something I very rarely suffered with. It caused me to have bleeding piles which I had to have treatment for. I am now on a daily morning sachet of Laxido which helps greatly with the constipation. It does not purge you. I find it very good. However, you have to make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Until I was prescribed Verapamil, I had always suffered from IBS, but now totally the opposite. I have stopped taking my IBS medication, and now only eat wholemeal bread, something I couldn’t tolerate before. Also I make sure I eat enough fruit and veg. Hope you find the Verapamil agrees with you. I couldn’t take Bisoprolol as I have Asthma.

Have you consider taking Horse Chestnut for the Piles? Also, have you considered stopping all gluten? Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestions. However, they’re a bit past treatment, other than surgery, which I won’t have. As long as I watch my diet and drink plenty of water, I can cope with them. Thank you all the same.

I couldn't tolerate Verapamil. I was put on it because of mild asthma, but after 10 days I was more or less on my knees. I think it was because I have low resting HR and it was really counter productive for me. I hope it works for you.
