Metropolol

I have been on metropolol for a little over a month. I’m on 50 mg two times a day. I am so sleepy that when I wake up in the morning I go back to sleep. I can literally keep going back to sleep till I find that it’s 4 pm. I guess you can say I’m so tired but it really feels like I’m so sleepy if that makes sense.

Agree with Happyjo, check your BP isn't too low. I'm taking 12.5mg twice daily along with Flecainide 100mg. I think it's quite a strong drug. In hospital I was given a 100mg dose and collapsed.

Have you taken your evening Metoprolol yet? I believe the drug only works for 12 hours.

I’m in USA so it’s morning. I hadn’t yet taken it.

Metoprolol made me very tired too. No energy and low blood pressure. I ended up taking so little of it, that it was no longer controlling symptoms. Now on sotalol and had some tiredness, but seem to have hit a balance that works. Good luck finding the right balance for you.

Thank you. I used to take Sotalol but was taken off of it a week before my ablation. I liked Sotalol. Going to ask my doc to lower my dose of Metropolol when I go back on December 10th.

Don't know about metroprolol but it is a beta blocker and I was on bisoprolol and Atenolol for a grand total of three weeks and struggled with tiredness on both, worse with bisop- 40 mins after taking 1.25mg I was asleep and for 4 hours or more. There werecotjere nasty side effects

My GP then decided I did not tolerate beta blockers and put me on verapamil , a calcium channel blocker for the crate control instead. I had very minor issues with that drug. Unfortunately the af developed I've the next 20 months and I ended up on stronger medication but veapamil was good whist it lasted.

Talk to your doctor over the alternatives.

Yes that’s another drug I took. . I was on verapamil for about three years and then they put me on sotalol along with it and then after a few months they took me off of the verapamil. I was getting very very sleepy. And my blood pressure was going so low. By being on this site I’m becoming aware of just how many medications I’ve been on. It’s crazy.

Try the extended release metoprolol (Topral XR). I think it's a smoother release into your system. I've been on both and I prefer the Topral with my low BP.

How much verapamil? - I was on 120Mg modified release Daily (if fact a lot time I was only on half a mod release tablet which is 60mg)

I can’t remember. I tried to look it up on my mail-in scripts but it was too long ago.

Just wondered as after verapamil I was put on diltiazem another calcium blocker but I was very tired on that

However I was on 200 mg daily . I think i was over prescribed. I was put on 120mg for a few weeks and it was a lot better of not great, probably could have managed on 80 or 100. I just wondered if it could be the same for you on verapamil

It seems like a lot of the heart medications make one sleepy. Sometimes, after I take the morning dose of Metropolol at 9am. I fall back asleep for even maybe 2 hours. Totally wrecks my day. I remember being tired on Sotalol too but not like this.
