Had my first AF episode, over night, since I came off bisoprolol, which was quite a few months ago . Am so disappointed 😪 Top reading hit 168, not a very pleasant feeling X

Sorry to hear that Tilly. How are you when you got up and moved around?

Feel shattered. Still have a sensation of erratic palpitations, but Kardia says no at. I have a lot going on this week, stressful, plus I ate a lot of gluten stuff the last two days, so I guess it’s self inflicted. Rate back down to a steady 80/85 - be happier when it’s lower though. Thank you for asking x

Easy to say and much harder to do but remember to breath and stay as calm as possible. Positive mindset does help but a good night’s sleep would be even better so hope you have a quieter night today.

Going out for a meal with my son, daughter and husband. Son moving to Vienna Saturday! So celebrating his birthday, my husband’s unexpected early retirement and a farewell dinner - oh, plus a late celebration of mine & husband’s birthdays! Also, local buildings site has a piling machine going from 8-4 min to Fri for 5 weeks ….. it’s awful 🤣 and we don’t live next to it! And …… breath. Thank you for your advice x

ended up having salmon, prawns spinach in a white wine and cream sauce …. With paprpadelle ribbons of fresh pasta ….. was so nice! Now we find out if excess gluten will be a trigger 🤣 x

Are you taking any other tablets for Af? Forgot to take my tablet yesterdaday and had symptoms ,moral is they are VERY important that we take them for the rest of our lives even with a pacemaker

Only Rivaroxoban, and bendroflumethiazide for blood pressure. I got hot, stressed, overtired and had a flare of aches and pains 😪 Feeling fine now, thank you. If it happens again anytime soon, I will refer back to my gp. It’s my husband who now has the pacemaker - no meds for him though x

Not sure who you are asking but speaking for myself I’m not sure where you got the idea that there is an imperative to continue to take meds for AF, apart from anticoagulants- I take no other heart meds.

All rate control and antiarrythmics are contraindicated for another more serious condition I have to manage.

I'm sure your heartrate feels unpleasant. I live in the US and have been advised by cardiologist if heartrate is 100+, to get to the Emergency Room. I had to go 7 times in 2020. I would not have attempted to movie around with a heartrate of over 100. My thought is that any activity would likely increse rate. I would stay resting if it were me.

I stayed resting. All I did was get up, washed & dressed with minimum effort. Everything had calmed down by 10am. Aftermath is always exhaustion and tiredness so I just chilled for the rest if the day, enjoyed my family meal out in the evening and slept really well! Thank you for your advice. X

Wow, BlueINR, 7 times to the ER...that's a lot. I'm also in the US & my cardio gave me a trial of flecainide to keep me from visiting the ER. I take only 150 mg and it stops AF in 2-3 hrs. Have you tried that? (You can take up to 300 mg within 24 hrs, but to avoid side effects I stick w/ the lowest dose that works for me.) In my case, sometimes walking and moving around, driving, etc. stops it, too. We are each so different in our responses w/ afib. Best wishes for healing...

I think IV meds converted me to NSR maybe once or twice, all other times, they would not work and I needed cardioversion to get back to normal. Thanks for you kind wishes.

Whooah ...thats a lot of social activity. If you have vagally mediated AF take care after your life goes a bit quieter. I would suggest fixing up another event so your heart/mind/stomach slowly adjusts back to normal.

Thank you, no, not vagally mediated. I think it had been grumbling from early afternoon but I hadn’t realised - I just felt out of sorts. I only randomly used my kardia, I really didn’t expect it to show af! Thank you for your advice. X

Sounds like you’re in you stride but I’d suggest that the food is a distraction (side order) and the stress or in your case excitement is the main. Pun intended.I certainly look at what my eating and exercise and lifestyle is like when a PAfib happens to me but every two weeks it comes. Unstoppable, so far. I call it the buss, I’ve had 73 busses during my pill popping treatment. No real change accept in my approach.

Can’t stop the busses coming, so I ride them until I’m allowed off and forget about it.

74 wil come but I’m not watching out for it.

Good luck and rest if you can. 🙏

I haven’t had an episode for months, hoping not like Buses and several come sling in one go 🤣🤣🤣🤣 x

It could very well be your heart was trying to adjust after quitting the med. The same happened to me when I came off Tikosyn, but is now (knock on wood) back to normal again.

Thank you, Snowgirl65, I stopped bisoprolol months ago, this is the first episode since then. Am pretty sure I can identify the stressors, just got too many in one go (wasn’t paying attention 🤣) but thank you for the suggestion ,x

I hope it was a one-off and you'll be back to your normal self again soon!

Thank you. I feel fine today, just had lunch at costa as a treat, with my daughter. Very chilled, relaxed day - apart from the incessant banging of the piling machine in the building site the other end of town! We have about 5 weeks of it - feel so sorry for those living & working right next to it x

All that noise would drive me insane!

Tilly1957 profile image
Tilly1957 in reply to Snowgirl65

Yep, I hate most repetitive noise of any sort 🤣 x

And you know what I hate most of all? The booming bass sound of someone's car audio. Ughh!

Tilly1957 profile image
Tilly1957 in reply to Snowgirl65

That can tend to be irritating too! . I live in a small seaside town and we get very busy in the summer with lots of noise! X

I think I could deal with your summer noise if I lived in a seaside town. I live in a little midwestern suburb in Ohio in the US. Nearest water would be our Lake Erie which is frozen over now.
