frequent Af episodes again

hi all. Had cryo ablation last sept 2021

One Af attack last December

But now I’m getting an episode every Few weeks

Flecanide 150mg and 2.5 mg bisoprolol sort it out in a couple of hours. But my ep said if attacks return he will consider a redo ablation

My follow up appointment isn’t till December.

Should I contact the ep office now or wait till December? Cheers

I always contact medics earlier than I used to compensate for all the delays these days. I also take earlier precautionary action like daily improving lifestyle choices before issues present.

I think I would contact then now, if possible. I had he same problem but didn't get an answer.

Cheers. I did speak to a cardiologist nurse a few weeks ago asking to speak to my ep. She just said start taking flecanide daily. Which is what I’d prefer not to do.

Bearing in mind that AF tends to be progressive I would take the daily Flecainide if you can’t see your EP soon.

I was told to use flec as a PIP when I had weaned myself off it - perhaps you could see if that would help? It does the trick for me at the moment, but i have explained my situation to the cardiologist and am awaiting their wisdom...

I do use 150mg flecanide as a pip at the Mo. But would like to consider a 2nd touch up ablation as well.

After my second ablation I got a few runs of af, my cardio nurse told me to go back on flecanaide if af becomes bothersome or try to ride them out. I take it from his response he would prefer me not to go back on flecanaide. So far I have rode them out.

Same here. I only take 150mg as soon as an attack begins. It sorts it out in a hour or so.

I was advised the same about my Multaq. I tried riding it out it but recently I had to give in and I’m glad I did. We should do whatever we need to do to help ourselves feel better. I just had a great month after being on medication for the past month for pericarditis but Thursday night everything went South again. A fib is a horrible thing that just seems to not like to give us a break. I had a very aggressive procedure the end of April and they say I am in NSR. If that is so then why am I breathless, feel like a car is parked on my chest and can barely move again without feeling nauseous. I’m waiting for a callback from the EP nurse. I was feeling so good I’m so frustrated a week ago I was walking the perimeter of our property with my dog and today I can barely walk the perimeter of my kitchen. 😔

Sorry to hear that Dawn, yes when it becomes very symptomatic and pops up out of the blue when you have gone a while without it it’s all very depressing, it really is the hope that kills you isn’t it?I really do not know what to say to you apart from I sympathise so much. I do know exactly how you feel. Stick with the hope because I think that’s all we have. Take care !

Thank you I was obviously quite whiny and needy when I wrote that. They are sending me for an EKG and echo again trying to figure out what’s going on. I just finished the medication for my pericarditis. Does anyone else get what I referred to as an ache in their chest? It doesn’t matter if I’m doing anything or not it just seems to be there almost all of the time. I have a feeling I will be back on my meds at least my Multaq. I don’t know if I will hear anything from the doctors office tomorrow as far as how he wants to proceed. He may wait until the EKG arrives to see what’s going on. My primary is going to do it because my cardiologist/EP is two hours away. I know they told me it could be up to a year before I am completely healed but knowing I am in tachycardia so much has me upset I was doing so well for about a month. Thank you everyone for the support that’s what is great about this group we all understand to some degree what we are talking about and feeling

I would contact my doctor now. My first ablation was cryo-and only lasted six months. I was immediately scheduled for an RF ablation and that lasted 15 months. Don’t wait call your dr

Agree with those above don't wait reach out now - if the episodes settle in future you can always rethink....Maybe EP will consider daily flecainde with betablocker until next ablation? (something to discuss perhaps)
