Since flutter is in the right atrium the extra procedure shoudldnot take much longer than a single one. The catheter arrives in the heart at the right atrium and then has to be punched through the septum into the left so the flutter can be done either in the way in or out. Probably two hours max but you should be away with the fairies and not caring anyway.
Just had said procedure done in November. It flew! I only found out I actually had flutter after the ablation. Thought it was just AF I had. A couple of hours approx was the real time. Felt more like 20 mins with the fairy juice. Procedure is nothing to worry about! Good luck.
I had rf ablation almost 6hrs. Cryoblation ❤️Almost5hrs 4years apart
It takes what it takes, you probably won’t be aware and you certainly won’t be able to watch the clock! Sedation should make you unaware of what’s going on but if at anytime you feel uncomfortable, let the team know and they will tweak the dose…..good luck, and please let us know how you get on.
Heads-up - not everyone is suitable for cryo ablation and that’s not always known prior to the procedure in which case they will switch to RF ablation. As FJ says - it’ll take as long as it takes.
Reasons for unsuitability:- Co-joined or very large Pulmanary veins and unusual atrial physiology. I don’t know the numbers but I understood it to be a fair percentage - 5%???
