Hi all. Had my 1st cryo ablation last sept. But had a 24h episode in December that has really got me down. My follow up appointment isn’t till end of April and that’s only a telephone appointment so I’ve made a decision to see a top ep next week privately. Just to discuss thing I suppose. Anyone else done this or similar ?
Thanks

Yes, most of the time. Still had to wait weeks/months on a private list though for the last 4-5 years but that’s maybe because many are now taking that route.
Go to someone who also works in NHS as tests & treatments can mount up & follow up appointments for ‘chronic’ conditions such as AF are not often not covered by private health insurance so you may need deep pockets. A consultation is ‘only’ a few hundred but tests may be thousands and often done in NHS hospitals so you need to wait in that queue like anyone else.
I had ablation done last March lenlec, I had AF episodes a couple of times in Dec and emailed cardio nurse with the readings, he has since put me back on meds and arranged a phone app in a couple of weeks with EP who performed ablation. Perhaps you should email your cardio nurse? Good luck
I rang the cardio nurse. Told her about the 18hr episode in December. She just said I’ll get an appointment in the post. I did. End of April Telephone appointment. Hence why I’m going private this Wednesday. Just to get a bit of info and advise really
I know how you feel, as soon as I came of the meds I went straight into afib so I feel like the ablation hasn’t worked at all. I do take a bit of heart when I hear people comment on a second ablation is often more successful especially if RF is performed rather than the cryo. I would prefer to come off meds and have less symptoms with a more successful ablation.
Yes, when stuck in Afib at start if lockdown. He managed to refer me back into NHS for urgent cardioversion followed a month later by urgent ablation. Best £250 I've ever spent. I think I'd still be waiting judging by how unreliable my local hospital is...
